We have a 3 1/2 year old short haired border collie that is a completely finished hog dog. He tracks, bays, and attacks wild hogs. We have professionally trained hog dogs, eradicated hog problems, and offered guided hunts for the past 11 years. Depending on its size, he will attack it. We are selling our hog removal business due to moving and that is why he is for sale. Spot would make an excellent starter dog for anyone wanting to get into the hog removal business. He would work great for training other dogs. Spot is trash animal broken and is totally people friendly and baby friendly. He rides in the car or in the back of the truck without a cage.
Why we use border collies: We have been using border collies for about 11 years. In that time we have killed around 2000 wild hogs. Because border collies have amazing endurance and are extremely fast (some of ours can run 30mph) they rarely get hurt. In 11 years we have only lost one dog who was 11 years old at the time. Because border collies are extremely smart, they use discretion when attacking hogs. They won't attack a medium sized hog with large tusks, but they will attack a huge hog with little tusks.
