Two Litters of Bluetick Pups on the Way

Two Litters of Bluetick Pups on the Way - 06/08/15 06:47 PM

I bred two of my females to males that should niche really well. These dogs are not competition hounds, they will be cold nosed, athletic and intelligent with excellent confirmation better suited for bobcats, lions and coons. I am excited about the crosses but not sure any of the pups will be offered for sale. (Depends on the number of pups that we can raise).

I am sure that my Jill female is bred as she seems to be showing a little. Somehow a hunter in British Columbia found that she is expecting and wants two females. There is another hunter in Montana that wants a male so maybe they can figure a way to get them up there. I am not going to make the trip.

A little less than a month away from Jill whelping but she is already showing. This is her first litter so I hope that she doesn't have a dozen.

Keep us posted on the little devils after they get here. Puppies are fun to watch as they grow. You have to deal with the messy part, we just want to see the pictures!

Confused, are you going to have puppies for sale or not? I understand they aren't born yet but you say you aren't sure any will be offered for sale.

Interested in a female depending on the price. Can you post pics of the parents?

thanks and good luck with the whelping

I generally don't sell any of my dogs as I just breed often enough to keep me and a few of my hunting buddies in hounds. If I have an over abundance of puppies, I will sell and I get $300 for a male or female. I will say that the Jill female is getting pretty big and is not due until July 22. Since this is her first litter, I was hoping for 6-8 pups, not 10-12. I need to get her in shape quickly as I will begin lion hunting Oct. 1 in AZ.
She is my best hound and has excellent confirmation, one of the best made females I have ever seen. This female does not have many faults though not perfect.
Male is out of Montana. I traded a pup for him when he was a puppy. He is one of the most intelligent hounds I have been around but is not made as well as Jill. He is great on a hot track but does not have as cold nose as my hounds. He is a little tight mouthed on a colder track. I study pedigrees before making any crosses and he should niche really well with my females.
