What steel - 12/17/17 02:31 PM
So I have made a few file knifes. I don’t want to spend crazy money on stell. But would like to order something that might be considered better quality than a file. What should I order? Tool steel, carbon steel,????

1084 makes a pretty good blade and isn't expensive and is fairly easy to heat treat. 1095 is another good steel that's affordable but the heat treat is a little more finicky.

Might wanna try some 1075 - easier to heat treat and takes some serious abuse - it's like 1070 on steroids! Also much more weather resistant than 1095
