Recommendations on a Straight Razor?

Recommendations on a Straight Razor? - 10/17/15 04:27 AM

I'm thinking about learning to use a straight razor to shave with. I've had a couple of straight razor shaves at an old time barber shop and I liked it. Any recommendations on a brand? I've looked on eBay and prices are all over the board. The Boker brand blades look nice but are kinda pricey. Do you really get what you pay for?

Any recommendations on brand or other information would be appreciated.

I don't shave that way, but I still like straight razors. Here's a good place to get started:

I wish I had learned how a long time ago. I figure I got too old to shave that way now. My eyes are bad and I shake like a cat pooping peach seeds...sometimes.

You're welcome. I like the old antique ones myself. They're like old knives...if they were made in Solengen Germany, they were probably pretty good. Good luck and post back with what you get. As costly as those things are, I'd sure want to get it right the first time.
