Shotguns, slugs and rifling

Shotguns, slugs and rifling - 09/12/17 01:35 AM

I notice a lot of the areas allow hog hunting with slugs with some adding the word smoothbore in the sentence. There are many that don't say smoothbore but also don't say rifled barrels are ok. I figure my rifled shotgun shooting Remington Buckhammers should be considered a shotgun with slugs right? The discontinued Buckhammer is a flat full diameter slug with an attached wad like the Brenneke KO. It will shoot reasonably well in smoothbores but in my rifled barrel it does 2 inch groups at 100 yards. So am I in the shotgun with slugs category?

If it doesn't specify "smoothbore only" then I dont think they care either way,as long as it's a slug.

I will use you as a reference! I have a smoothbore slug barrel for the same shotgun also.

If it shoots a shotgun shell your good to go.

Call the hunt coordinator at your specific hunt location to CYA. He or She will be more than glad to answer this along with any other questions you may have.
