I've been putting in for these Drawing for years, well this year I got drawn for a youth and one for me and some buddies. Any advise on what to bring? How it all works once I get there?

It depends. Where did you get drawn?

Sorry compadre. I've never hunted either one. Maybe some other folks here can chime in.

Congratulations drawing South Llano River! That's a hard one to get drawn for!

welcome

At South Llano river, they will assign you a blind and then you drive to the vicinity and walk in. They do have a skinning rack and a small walk-in cooler if you get something. When I hunted there, they wanted you gut your animal on the spot, so be ready to take care of that in the field. If they allow baiting then bring some corn, and your favorite rifle and be ready. I'd also bring a folding chair. I don't remember if all of the blinds have one already or not. Good luck! That's a well run hunt in a great area.

UPDATE!!!!

I can not brag enough about this youth hunt. The guys there from Texas Park and Wildlife and the A&M Texas Forest service were awesome!! This was my first public hunt and I was nervous about the unknowns but those guys made me and my daughter feel so welcomed and catered, to all of the families there from day one. This park was a great youth hunting spot. We saw deer the whole weekend. There was 12 kids and 5 out of 12 took deer home. Including my daughter. We saw a few nice bucks but just couldnt get a clear shot at one. My daughter had her mind set on bagging a buck that she let a ton of doe walk, until the last night that is. After the kill they came to pick us up from the assigned stand, help load her kill, back at camp they were awesome helping drress and skin her doe, and explaining the whole process to my daughter. Highly recommend this park for youth hunts, and I hope we get the chance to hunt her again.
