My daughter and I just got in the blind for our hunt. Any other THF members hunted here in the past? Any here now?

Was down there last month for the second doe/spike hunt. Hunted blind 7 for one day. Got sick and didn't make it back. I saw one deer - a doe that dressed out at 100#. She was the only deer brought in that day. Not sure how the rest of the hunt went, but there seemed to be a lot of acorns that may be washed away or soured now. So, hopefully the animals will be moving a bit more searching for food.

Good luck, an keep us updated.

So far, we had a spike run by, but didn't give us a shot. Then 2 decent 8pt bucks went by. None stopped for a bite, just kept moving.

Ron, it was right at an hour and a quarter from Mabank, so figure 45-50 minutes from Athens. May be less as I traveled down to Athens, down to Crossroads and over on 287 to Richland Chambers, then down to Fairfield. Possibly a bit different route from Athens.

Sounds like it'll be worth taking a look at for next year under the new multiple entry Lottery rules...Thx

Me and my son were there. Had a group of about 10 deer including a buck come behind & around us Mon afternoon. Few minutes later a giant buck & 2 doe walked right by us (within 15ft) & stopped at our corn pile 25yds away! While waiting for the buck to move for a clear shot on the bigger doe, another big buck came in on the other end to eat corn. The giant buck finally moved giving my boy a clear shot and he dropped the doe for his 1st kill!
We only saw 1 small deer Tue.
This morning we saw another big 9pt that came out and ate corn at about 80yds! Wish this would have been a buck hunt cause we had 2 perfect shots on trophy bucks. It was definitely an awesome hunting experience & we were blessed for him to harvest his 1st deer. Very nice park and we had a blast camping.

Was there Mon.- Wed. Sat in stand 3. Monday evening had 7 does but couldn't get a shot on one. Tuesday morning had 4 bucks come by and the evening not a thing came by. Wednesday morning had a 3 deer come out. My nephew shot one and then shot at the old doe but must have nicked her. We couldn't find much blood.

My son and I were there 12/30 - 1/1. We were in stand 26, just outside the gate. We parked at the Equestrian camping area, and hunted along the the pipeline.
We saw a large coyote in the first afternoon, and a real nice 8-point buch the second morning. The only hog we saw was along the road, heading back to the campgrounds the second night, and the only doe we saw was in our camp site when we got back on the second night. We had a real good time, and had no shortage of critters to watch, just not many deer or hogs. There'd been quite a bit of pressure on them by the time we started hunting, but I'll still put in for the drawing next year.
