Kerr WMA GDE - 09/16/15 01:41 PM

12 years putting in my buddy and I were drawn for Kerr WMA. Please PM me with information that may ease the learning curve for this hunt. Looking for information on if we can bring a travel trailer and stay at WMA. Should the blind provided be hunted or find own spot in compartment given. Is it worthwhile to bait? Deer density and chances of big mature deer\exotics. You know the type of information you would like to have prior to going on this hunt. Thank y'all in advance for the information.

Been a few years since I've been, but always got the Bobcat pasture. It was always just me and this compartment is one of the smallest one. Best thing to do is call the area. They can answer all your questions. Back when I went, you couldn't stay or camp there and couldn't bait, but this was back around 2001 or 02. On my 2nd trip, I had a real nice big buck come in. But before he made it to my set up, wind changed direction and I got busted. He was about 50 yds out and coming straight to me. This was an archery hunt. Back then, there were very little exotics. The staff told me then they were trying to kill them all off.
Good luck. There are some bruisers out there.

Congratulations!

No, you can't stay on the WMA. You can get a cabin at MO Ranch which next door to the WMA. You can also camp there but I don't know about your travel trailer. I'd call MO Ranch and ask.

Blinds provided are pretty good but it doesn't hurt to try other spots.

Yes, it's worthwhile to bait.

Exotics are low in numbers but I've seen some killed. I wouldn't pass up a good buck in hopes of getting an exotic.

Hunted the Kerr WMA a few years back with my daughter on youth hunt. You were not allowed to stay on the WMA. I would recommend baiting. Deer came to corn, but were weary of the blinds. The blinds were nice, but if you have pop up blind I would bring along just in case.

The Kerr WMA is very well run and they will answer all of your questions pre-trip if you call.

Good luck!
