TX WMA lat and long

TX WMA lat and long - 04/28/15 04:34 PM

I have printed the WMA map for division 1 to an individual PDF, and started adding additional public hunting spots "National Forest / Grass lands, National and State parks..." to the file. I then wanted to transfer that information to Google Earth, The National and State Parks and Forest seem to be in Google earth data base, but the WMA's are not. I have looked at the individual WMA maps for addresses, and Lat / Long and did not find them. Is there a source out there for the GPS locations? Sure wold be a nice tool to see what opportunities lye in a particular aria. I am including my 12 year old son in this project so that we might be able to better plan hunting trips for the up coming year(s).

The two books put out by TPWD...one for the draw hunts and one for the type 2/APH areas do a very good job of listing all WMAs,including a crude map of each area. Not sure how having GPS coordinates would be more helpful. All that info is online at TPWD's website as well.

Re: TX WMA lat and long - 04/29/15 04:32 PM

Thanks for the reply's, lots of good ideas, I did download the entire 2014-2015 Texas parks and wildlife booklet. Printed to PDF the entire state, District 1, And all individual WMA's we are int rested in. Did the mark up on the district 1 showing national forest, grass lands, national and state parks and so on. I will then print that to a hard copy and place in a three ring binder. The GPS coordinate would allow me to quickly mark it in Google earth, give me driving directions, distance from the house, let me look at the Terran..., and let me plug it into my Garmin. When we go on the trip we will take the three ring binder. I will check out the TOPO usa thing that sounds pretty cool.

Hay guys while searching for the TOPO USA program I came across a cool USGS Site that lets you download PDF forms of USGS maps I am going to check it out further. I am pasting the address for it if any one else is interested. http://nationalmap.gov/ustopo/
