ATN X-Sight 458 Socom Recoil - 05/30/18 01:55 PM

The X-Sight survived crossbow season.
Now let’s see how long it lasts on a .458 Socom.
My cynical side truly expected screen to go black. So far so good stay tuned.

I’m surprised it didn’t reset or shut off - as I ran the same test with 458 Socom and the Xsight 1 a couple years back and my scope shut off. The scope mount screws (mount to body) also loosened despite being blue loctited after 25 rounds.

I would have to say your muzzle brake is saving the day
, for now , in your test trials . Take that brake off or put one on that doesn’t mitigate that recoil as well and you might see a different outcome.

Leaving it as is seems to work well but I wouldn’t want to be to the side of you when you shoot that gun....

I’m gonna be that guy tonight.
Guy I’m hunting with had NO NV.
I’m bringing this out to him and will be standing next to him shooting.
I’ll let you know how that goes.
I’ve got good electronic ear muffs.

I wish you well always, let us know how that goes.

With brakes of that design it’s a single point of failure with regards to “ears on”

Hunting is a whole different ball of wax versus range shooting - there isn’t always a for sure in the field in terms of getting hearing protection on especially in multi shooter hunts.

I took a side blast from a brake like that once without ears on - I lost hearing that day and swore to never use a brake like that ever again on any of my rifles.

Hunt good!
