A photo would be really helpful, or maybe at least a good description of the problem preventing you from adjusting "the power," which I would assume means the zoom or magnification.

Yes that is correct the front of the scope is large and when it tapers down so the front ring will fit it makes the rear ring ride up against your power adjustment ring so tight you really have try to change the power to point you can barely turn it not at all with gloves on

Did you torque the rings to the proper inch/pounds? That could be one issue. But pics would help a lot

Google “Leupold Ruger 77 extended rings”.

In addition to Leupold:

It sounds like the dimension of the scope bases is too wide for the scope and the rings end up on the curve of the bell.

If the scope tube is too short, you need extension rings.

If it is just a height problem, you just need higher ring or rings. Every M77 I have had uses 2 different ring heights, the taller goes in the back. I think they come with a medium/high. You could probably just buy one ring (the next highest size) or email ruger. They are helpful with such questions and can tell you what you need. I would just buy a pair of Warne highs and call it good.

I'd get a 1 piece picatinny rail for it so you can move the rings in the best position.
