The real problem is that ATN has consumed all of the available good will they could expect from their customer base. From this point forward, it's pretty much a case of "Show me the money!" Now they have to prove to the public that they are serious about product quality and customer service.

I think this pretty well describes the situation.
We'll see what happens next. It will undoubtedly be interesting to watch.

If ATN was smart they’re build a functional TWS, that they’re prepared to stand behind, on the OFF chance something goes wrong. If they’d do that, the rest would take care of itself . No amount of WiFi enabled, triple redundant core, heat seeking missle capable, magic leprechaun included , marketing schemes will get them out of the hole they’ve dug for themselves. They obviously make money, because they’re still in business. But if they want to be taken seriously, they need to act accordingly. Took a new guy out last night, he asked why we had everything exact a THOR . He was thinking about buying one. I told him MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I’m pretty sure some vendor will get a call this week, from him, to order a pulsar.... at this point, they seem to be selling to folks only interested in lowest price...... all opinions above are just that. The problem with ATN is the design and build the x sight in a lab and never take it into the field to expose issues before releasing to public. I was an early user of the original X and was part of a beta test team for ATN. Time after time they did not listen to our feedback and just pushed the next release. If they would just focus on a scope that had record capabilities and not all the looky here garbage they would be miles ahead. I still use my X but it is not a plug and play device and I have used the latest version too and feel the same way.

I think the scope is interesting for day use. I could say getting one for a new hunter to record first shots and as a teaching tool

But with atn I don’t trust them. The “mistakes” involving screwing customers and lying to them and offering nothing in return.

I am a Pro Staff member yes, however I am not paid. I also do not promote products I do not believe in.

Designed it like a glass scope this time for better aesthetics and more versatility with mounting and a better eye relief... the technology and clarity blows away any other digital scope out of the water. I would put it up to any digital scope with money down to bet.

When you add the laser range finder to the front, yes it can be a little long. But that is a removable aspect.. But I would say turning your scope itself into a laser range finder is worth the look of a long range scope haha. Same goes for the rubber eye piece that really is only needed to reduce back light for night vision.

3 Inch display makes a world of difference.

But then again the people will always find something to bitch about hahahaha

AS I said a year ago, was my first hunt that late in the year with MLD tags and learned a valuable lesson to always check for dropped antlers that late. Here is my own judgement:

ATN X-Sight was a novel product, never made it past customer BETA testing and was useful on my .22lr so long as the rabbit didn’t move. I’m still freaked out by the ATN YouTube video when Sachal walks back and forth in a track suit.

ATN X-Sight II HD was a more stable device IF you got one that didn’t kill itself (no power on). The screen (near eye display) makes you want to use your smartphone or tablet to take the shot. I’m not sure HD means High Definition or Hell Device

ATN X-Sight 4k PRO: ok now this is getting out of hand, surely ATN is trying too hard with the name to disassociate from the previous two models. I mean jee whiz what are they supposed to name the next version .... ultra advanced pro platinum

If you watch the video.. it does NOT record in 4K.. It records in HD.. It is a 4K sensor and the display is in HD.. So when you have the 4K sensor it allows you to zoom into the image without pixelation.

ATN if you are reading why put the rangefinder on the objective focus adjuster which seems to move the range finder at the same time.... Will that not throw off your aim point for readings?

Good catch... Actually that is rotating becuase he did not tighten down the sunshade all the way.. Once the sunshade is tightened down all the way it will NOT move with the focus ring.

I'm an owner of a 3-14 and 5-20 Original X-sight, Nephew has a 3-14 X-Sight II, Son has a Photon XT and a Sig Thermal.

ATN I have a hog hunt scheduled for the first week in March. Ship me a new 4K, I'll compare it to the other night vision we have and write a review of the new sight, sending it back to you after the week is up.

Gotta say you are not representing your company well... as you are well aware there were lots of issues with how your company rolled out the first x sight involving lots of issues and broken promises. Then after you figured it out you released a new improved version based on feedback from customers who bought the first. That decision by your company left a lot of people with bad taste, and if I recall you went running for the hills and didn’t post anything.

Do I think this is an interesting product?....yes. Do I think night digital is as good as some of the “marketing” photos you have put out? No. Do I think it could be something? Maybe

But focus on repairing your company image not throwing insults at others.

If this scope is gtg you think they would jump at a chance to change some attitudes about their company on this site . I personal didn’t buy one of the original x-sights but 3 friends did and the qc was really bad couldn’t even hit paper at 50 yards ran the cross hairs off the screen.

It's not just this site. I'm on several thermal/night vision/hog and varmint groups and most people there have the same opinion of ATN. Not just the X-Sight either. Their products are universally seen as the bottom of the barrel in their industry. I've owned a couple of ATN products (my Gen1 X-Sight is a glitchy POS), but I'll never own another one, no matter how good it may be, because their prostaff is a bunch of obnoxious clowns.

The X-II was A LOT better, and this 4K Pro takes it to a whole new level.

BUT I can offer to have anyone who is close to Austin come check it out in person when I get a few in my possession...

This has the potential to be a fantastic optic... We will see for sure when I get it in my hands.. And hell I will even organize a range day here in Austin and get a group of people to come out and compare it to their optics..

The onus is now on ATN to demonstrate that their new products will live up to the claimed performance and reliability standards. They knowingly burned any good will with the release of the original X-Sight. For that matter, you can find posts going back years on AR15.com discussing the slovenly customer service and opportunistic behavior of ATN corporate. It's now up to ATN to EARN a new reputation by DEMONSTRATING superior quality control and excellent customer service.. Having a corporate stooge blow in once every couple months chanting "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" doesn't count for much.

I have had them in my hands but only for a short time.. Nothing long term to really run it through the ringer. From what I have seen and experienced this is going to be a game changer... The screen and eye relief is amazing, and the clarity on zooming in is outstanding.

If it holds true to what I saw for the short time I had it in my possession it will be a must buy.

FJG not worth the effort, I tried to help on original X sight and every suggestion to make a better product was ignored except to pull version .288. Then they stopped asking for input and rolled out version II and I never heard from them again. Mind you I never got a dime or a product from ATN I was just interested in making product better and spent hours and hours and 100s of rounds of ammo in the effort.

Most all the heartburn over the X-Sight took place before I bought any kind of night vision, so I don't really know...but it seems like ATN released update after update (and they did not work) and broke promise after promise, while folks were steaming mad about money they had tied up in optics that in many cases were useless. How many of those updates were crap?

In more recent times, Pulsar released their new line with a promise to release software that would bring all the options alive. Yes, they took a little while. What they did not do is release crap software repeatedly, the first update worked as promised. And as far as I know, the Pulsar/Sightmark guys didn't disappear during that wait time. Oh---and I don't recall ever seeing a new user show up with less than 10 posts and every one of them promoting Pulsar.

In my book, one company is operating above board with transparency and showing some integrity. I'll so no more about the other company.

Let’s talk about the ballistic calculator onboard the scope



What caliber is the actor shooting and what size is the target?

What bullet weight is being shot (drag function and ballistic coefficient) at what muzzle velocity?

What is the scope sight height?

Range to target is 187 yards

Realitive humidity is 75% and wind speed is 2.3 mph from 5 o’clock position

the scope adjusted THE POINT OF IMPACT UP 8.2” and RIGHT 4.1”

This would seem to adjust POINT OF AIM down and left...

Analysis:

I’m no ballistic genius BUT I do my shooting in the field and not in a lab so.....

The gun is zeroed at 187 yards , how is a 2.3 mph wind going to result in a 8.2” shift in elevation !?!?!?

Even the 4.1” windage is somewhat suspect but let’s assume it’s a light bullet

The point of impact scale doesn’t seem to correlate to the values either

What would be the point of impact correction of a 15 mph 5 o’clock wind? 50 inches at 187 yards ?

I believe know one has tested these products all anyone has seen are prototypes they don’t know crap except what here told on videos. They know no real answers except its a game changer

If we weren't so sure, we wouldn't have increased the recoil rating on these scopes to 416 Barrett. It wasn't bcz it sounded good, it's because the scopes have been tested on them.

Over 3000 rounds have been shot om these scopes.

Last April I spent $2800 on a rifle optic I had never had in my hands or looked through. Why? Because it is a Night Force ATACR. The company, and the scope has built a reputation. Amd that reputatiom was good enough for me to spend that kind of money on an optic I had never tested.

ATN is building a reputation of building a bad product, and having poor customer service. In this information age, a company will never survive on a bad reputation. Even U.S. Optics used to make good scopes. Well QC has gone down hill, people are trying to unload them, and they are looking like they are in financial trouble. QC went down hill, reputation went bad, no too hard to see where this is going. ATN will do the same thing if it doesn't turn things around.

I don't have anything on the web to show you for reviews, but I'm a test and evaluation engineer for a major department of defense contractor. I have a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering. I'll be in Texas the first week in March at my cousins for a hog hunt. I'll be hunting with my X-Sights regardless.

I have an x sight II as well and this chit is why it will get traded in for a pulsar as soon as the suppressor is out of jail. They give you numerous opportunity's to make this good and have a member review it and post are real review but we are shills. F off

Are you sure you guys are looking at the facts/data correctly OR are you all choosing to see what you want to believe as truth?

I hope the ballistic calculation software is rock solid in this 3rd Generation Xsight are there failsafes built in to prevent bad data inputs that wouldn’t be considered reasonable values or within tolerances?

For example if a shooter means to input 5 mph crosswind but accidentally enters 55 mph crosswind - will the scope warn the shooter that the offset is outside the scopes adjustment range?

An accident avoidance feature would be a good idea...

I realize ATN can’t prevent minor shooter entry errors but such a highly sophisticated scope could bring an overwhelming challenge to new shooters...

I could easily envision a shooter inputting a miscalculated value of bullet weight and missing by a good distance...

Real question, can you fit the new thor or the new x sight into a one piece QD mount like a Larue or Bobro? Or do you have to use rings, etc?

Basically we evaluate your unit once we get it in hand on what the trade in value is. Like a car. Then we give you that amount of credit towards whatever new unit you decide on. It's pretty straight forward.

What does worry me more is a company rep on here doing everything he can to piss even more people off. Not a good way to earn customers since when you do search the internet, this thread will come up.

Payne Ranch, I was one of the very first X-Sight customers; sorta on the leading, bleeding edge of the technology they brought to the market. It was not a finished product and suffered from a myriad of problems for quite some time. Dealing with the "company rep" you refer to was not a good experience. He was, and continues to be, rather caustic and "in your face;" almost like he learned his public relations behavior from Atilla the Hun. He has angered so many people over the years that I don't believe he will ever recover, certainly not in the eyes of the folks on this Forum. Gradually, and painfully, ATN has gotten most of the issues with the X-Sight resolved. My current 3-14 HD II works quite well. It's an excellent daytime scope, and with a powerful IR Illuminator, a satisfactory night vision scope.

I have 2 of the original X sights one 3x and one 5x, bought them when they first came out, my nephew after using them bought a 3x X sight II.

I'll be back down in Texas killing hogs with them in about 3 weeks.

First software was a bit glitch prone, later versions worked better. ATN just released it too soon and had poor customer service.

Yessir, you're responsible for getting the unit to us and and back. We can usually determine value prior to shipping though. It'll only change if it shows up in a condition that's unexpected.

I have the Xsight ll that I purchased. It's worked well with no issues and I've used it successfully for day, as well as night hunts. I liked the idea of having a single scope I could use during the day and at night. It fits that bill very nicely with two limitations. That limitations are the scope doesn't seem to refresh as quickly as my Photon and the Photon has a better image at night. Hunting blinds/feeders are good with this scope, but hunting wheat fields where multiple shots presents the scope is lacking. When swinging on running hogs the scope isn't very useful. For a dedicated night scope on a budget the Photon is a better option, but the ATN beats the Photon during the day time. That's my .02 as a user.

I've been burned in the past with the X-sight and even gave ATN a second try with the x-sight II HD. It was better and did great at the range and in the field on a stand overlooking a feeder. It does not do well stalking in fields that have not been cut. I'm open minded but I would need to see some independent reviews before I would consider this 4K version.

Especially with the comments I have read here from the ATN rep. I know there are hash comments posted here but as a company rep, he should take the high road to help ATN build a better customer support reputation.

Ironically enough, the "harsh words" were very kind compared to some of the owner commentary I've seen written elsewhere on the web. The simple truth is that a very large number of ATN product owners have been extremely dissatisfied with their experience. We got all the info we need already , how about you go hunt with it about 4-5 times and shoot 308 cal through it and get some field testing done before coming back, we’ll still be here.

well reading reviews for the sightmark Photon RT 6x50S ..not so sure now..the photon looks pretty dang impressive..havent made up my mind yet..will have either one in two weeks when i go to my lease for a week to kill hogs..decisions,decisions....

YouTube is one outlet yes. But we also have our own RoKu Channel (channel downloaded to an average of 43 different households per day over the last 30 days), air on Gen7 Outdoors were told by the channel manager that our show ranked int he top 10, and Hunt Channel, which is where our airtime was doubled to 10 times per week for Q1 2018.

Hunt Channel we have been averaging 50k views per live episode then an additional 20k on demand views per week per episode.

YouTube is a whole different beast. In the last 28 days we have had 150k Mins watches with 40k views.

Our show is not perfect by any means, and not near anywhere close to the best show out there haha But we have a good fan base and regularly get good feedback from our sponsors and our viewers. A few trolls here and there don't bother us. But we do take legit feedback to heart and is why our show has evolved to where it is now.

An attached rangefinder would be nice as long as you don’t have to attach it too far forward on the gun or scope

I do not have the ABL in my hands as of yet for actual testing. When I had it in my hands at shot show it attaches to the front of the scope (screws on in place of the lens cap)

No need to even reach it as it is blue tooth to the scope with a short cut button that activates it. Once you pair it to the scope you actually see the ABL reticle on the screen, and once you are done with it that reticle goes away. In theory it will work in night vision modes as well as with the new Thor 4 models...

But like I said I cannot say for sure until I get it in my hands to run tests.

Look at others on the market. they are long as well. This one has the optional rubber piece on the end and the sunshade on, and the IR light is a personal choice of each user.. The stock one that some with that is 1/2 the size and does well out to 200 yards.. I you want to see 600 yards by all means put a larger one on there.

But then again non trolls already know that. Hell if I had an IR on there as big as your ego I could see to mars.

Below is a pic I took with my cell phone through the scope so you could see the numbers on the screen at 750 yards and on the screen it is at 9.4x zoom out of 20x

It works perfectly - I had wind turned off due to it gusting through the range, and being very un predictable.

The eye relief is great, and the screen view is way better this go around.. You can actually see the whole screen without trying to re position in different angles. The view functions just like a glass scope would.

Qualified up to 750 yards, but did not try the 1,000 that day due to high gusting winds. I did not feel comfortable with my first attempt at 1,000 yards in those conditions.. The last thing I want to do is skip a round over the back drop due to my in experience in shooting in very windy conditions at that distance.

Tonight I am going out to get side by side video with the X-Sight II for hogs at the same distance and same conditions for people to see a comparison video from myself.

Give me a few days to put it together and I will put a video out showing everything about the new scope.

Well, I’m that case, I guess we don’t need an independent party review. If a company rep says it’s great, we’ll just take their word for it.

Will be interesting to see reviews from actual non handpicked reviewers once these things hit the market in the next 6-12 months. Will be even more interesting to watch JT continue to try to push this 3rd world optic after it tanks.

Well that's not true. Sapper, myself, every member of the THF will tout certain products if they are good products. The key is, those products, and the customer service associated with them have to earn their good reputation. It is easy for any company to earn a bad reputation. It is extremely difficult to repair a bad one, though.

Agreed.. Once someone has a bad experience it is truly difficult to change their mind.. It is even more difficult/impossible to do so to those who's minds are closed to a positive idea..

Given ATN's history, no one's mind is closed to a positive idea. But you're going to have to prove the positive idea produces positive results. You've been told by multiple people, multiple times the only way anyone is going to accept it as a quality piece of equipment is if someone, not on ATN's payroll, produces a positive review. And that still has not happened.

Customers started getting their scopes last week. Watch the Facebook groups and forums, and you will see them. My offer still stands to anyone who wants to see it and use it in person I can meet you at any range in Austin. Or bring it to a hunt just let me know the time and place (within an hour or 2 from Austin)

"Possibly the most fun you can have with a rifle
Start with the good. This is the Best ATN X-Sight Yet. Actually this is the best digital sight I have used. ATN addressed the biggest concerns most users had. 1. Eye relief is 3"+. functionality is smooth zoom, menu response recording, etc... Mounting is very flexible compared to the competitors and older x-sights.

Personal experiences: with facotry IR you can easly identify to 150+ yards. zoom clarity is very good especially compared to older x-Sights.

3-14 or 5-20 (I purchase both these are my thoughts) If you are going to shoot over 150 yards regularly go with the 5-20 otherwise go with the 3-14. The reason behind this is, you lose a good amount of field of view with the 5x base magnification.

if you spot and stalk go with the 3-14 for the greater field of view. If you hunt out of blinds and take longer shots go with the 5-20.

With the release of the ATN ABL there will be an optional rangefinder that works integrally with the sight. This combined with the Ballistics Calculator will really help with those long shots.

Favorite feature is the ability to record in fully HD ensuring you never miss the action.

Cons: ATN released this with out all the features active. Bluetooth does not allow connecting to Laser Ballistic Rangefinder or remote. 120FPS video recording does not work. The ATN Obsidian 4 App is flakey and locks the sight up."


This is where ATN fails sending out a product without all functions as advertised. Bugs are to be expected but not functional or activated errrr. Yes I did order ATN just for the sort of integrated LRF option and its not even working this is very disheartening.

It's all starting to make sense. I always wondered how in the hell some of their prostaff could possibly get jobs as professional optics salesmen, but those dudes also have limited functionality (and possibly bugs), so it's a perfect marriage.

I like mine I have the 5x20 and the 3x14 - but I am now venturing out to other brands as well.. I will have a Pulsar Trail XQ50 in my hands on Thursday for this weekends hunt. Excited to see what is can do.. Then next week I will get my feet wet with the Digisight Ultra N355 for the digital night vision side of things.

I would love to get a chance to look through both the new 4k and the HD x-sights. I am in Austin so could meet any where. It doesn't have to be at a range even. I just want a chance to see the view quality when you are actually looking in the scopes. I have been interested in these but just haven't made myself pull the trigger on a purchase because I have never tried a digital scope.

my YouTube is used for all sorts of personal videos it has combat footage, my son playing baseball, hunting I had most those subscribers before I ever posted a thermal hunting video.

JT - for many of us that will read this, many will want to know WHY are you looking into other optics now? Are you still an ATN pro? You've been the main person on this forum to promote ATN recently. So, why the switch, or the open to a switch when you've been so happy with them before? Were you dropped as a pro? Or did you remove yourself as a pro for ATN?

Great questions. I did address it on our Facebook page. As of yesterday I sent in my letter of resignation to the CEO of the company. Although I still stand behind our previous promotion of their product, as I personally never had an issue with any of them that I used, We are no longer promoting ATN products on our show.

Without going into details that I do not think would be professional to go into, it was more of a business decision than anything else; it was a hard decision to make, but I had to make the best decision regarding the future of our show and what we want to accomplish.

I wish ATN the best success moving forward and anyone who is still an avid ATN user and counted on us for support, we will still provide you with advice and trouble shooting support should you not be able to reach customer service to the best of our ability.

Of coarse you have to stand by their product that you have promoted for 2 years because if you don't everyone will see you as a fraud or liar for promoting something you never actually believed in. Even if thats not the case thats what people would think. Not to mention you prob signed a contract or non discloser that prevents you from saying how you truly feel.

Everyone that uses expensive hunting products knows not to take anything a pro staffer says too serious but instead let the product and online reviews from individuals do the talking for the product. Any company that has to try as hard as ATN does to promote itself is a big red flag.

Trousdale recommended that I buy a xsight 4K. I have had issues with it since day one and wish I would’ve bought a Photon or even pulsar RXQ30. Trousdale later recommended that I try the Pulsar and proceeded to tell me that ATN was junk which was after he “resigned.” I may not be able to see very well out of my $800 paperweight but it works well enough to see Trousdale is a big PHONY.

After reading this thread, I ended up buying the photon XT. It is one of my favorite new "toys". They are discontinued (came out with the photon RT), but if you can find one still on the shelf you will be happy. I know I am!

This is a brand bias issue that EVERYONE should expect from representatives from a given company, which JT was when he was with ATN. The standard here is that you should expect from them is to say that the company they represent has the best offering. You don't get to stay long as a rep for the company if you tell people your company product isn't up to snuff. So you can't really ever believe that a company rep is being truthful with you when saying his/her product line is superior. Maybe it is and the rep is telling the truth. Maybe it isn't and the rep is trying to keep his ride with the company.

You would get the same thing from a rep from Ford who when he changes companies to Chevy and then tells you a different story about how Chevy is better. You would not expect a FLIR rep to tell you that you should buy Trijicon or Pulsar products over FLIR, would you?

When reps for a company are hawking their product to the public, you should never consider the information to be anything more than advertisements, like a TV commercial.

Straight up lie right there.. I have never recommended a pulsar unit as I have not even tried them yet. And never have I called ATN junk, as it is not junk.

I cannot recommend the pulsar units as of yet becuase I have not used them as of yet (I just got the unit in the mail today)

As far as who I will be promoting, I am not sure yet, I am not limiting myself to one optic company and will be trying several on the market int eh coming weeks.

ATN is not perfect but it their units are far from Junk.

I have had the trail in my hand for 3 days over a year ago.. and did not use it in a hunting setting. I have never used it on my rifle and only looked through it, and to note the unit that I did have was a test unit before they were ready for the market. so the issues I did experience were not accurate for its retail market.

Your statement about shot show is an assumption as I did not look through the trail units at the show shows, however I did nook through their new binoculars, and from what I saw I was impressed, but in a real life setting I cannot say.

I will actually be able to use the trail XQ50 and the Helion XP50 this weekend in a hunting setting and will have more info on what I think.

NOTE I am not on the Pulsar Prostaff and I am not being sponsored by Pulsar.. Just giving them an honest look over after they have been on the market for a while.

Like I said above. That unit was a test unit and not fully functional when I got it in my hands. I know I was even biased in it. Not gonna lie about it. Also like I said above I will put it into more real hunting scenarios and give it Moreno of a real world test. Especially since it’s been out for a while and both companies have had time to work out any kinks. Such as the no sound and over heating I experienced with the trail when I had it for such a short time.

What I don't get is how this is still going on. The other day I commented about a topic, another commented and said I was full of it. I provided backup and stood by my opinion. You can see out to 1000 yards with a ThOR (depending on the model) yes but no way can you I’d that far with Any thermal. And the lie about he factory IR??? You know what we actually agree here on the fact it was not the best idea to do a side by side review when I knew so little about the pulsar and before it was ready. I have even debated removing it to be frank.

It was pulsars content that was on the scope when I got it. But I removed it anyway. That was the only time I was on any kind of ban. Never for making an additional account. Check with the admins on that for confirmation. They can check and confirm.
