Pulsar Trail & Helion Firmware Update V3 - AUDIO - 01/19/18 03:56 PM

Looks like the new updates are out there is now audio, graphics brightness is now adjustable, wifi is supposed to be better and for the Trail, increased recording time for recoil activation before the shot (10 seconds) and you can now have solid (single) reticle colors (previously bi-color)

I don't have a Trail right now, but somebody please do the update and let me know how you like it.

Just got a text from on of our Third Coast Thermal customers. He reports that sound will play back on his computer, is supposed to work on Android phones in Streamvision, but does not play back on his iPhone.

It seems to work great. I used it for several different clips and works just like you'd expect.

Note: After the firmware update you MUST go into the Trail/Helion settings and enable the mic. It is disabled by default.

Sorry for the crappy video quality. I was in a hurry, holding the scope by hand and it's humid.

Thanks for the vid, Jason!

Sounds like you would expect for a microphone INSIDE of the scope housing. It is a little muffled, but certain useful.

So funny to watch some of these social media pages. There are like 1000 people trying to be the first to say that there was a sound update except 5000 other people already made the same post before them roflmao

Is that like being the first to post a kill counter?

Yes sir, I 100% agree with you. Not bad at all though.

I didn't try to listen to the sound on my app because, quite honestly, I've never viewed any of my files on my phone. I always download them directly to my laptop.

I’m a member of like 6 night vision/thermal/hog and coyote hunting groups on FB and everyone of them has like 20 posts about the ipdate haha. People are excited. I know it was a pain to record audio with phone and then sync it to the thermal video for sure.

Songdogslayer I was able to hear the sound on my IPhone but first download VLC media player to your IPhone. Email the file to yourself using stream vision. Go to your email account on you IPhone and hold your finger down on the received file to "copy to VLC". You can now play the file in VLC and hear the audio.

Re: Pulsar Trail & Helion Firmware Update V3 - AUDIO - 01/20/18 01:39 AM

VLC media player will allow you to slow down the video/audio to .25X speed. You can also set some of the video playback levels. It's free from the APP Store. You do not have to email the file to yourself to view the file and hear the audio as stated in my previous post. You can copy the file to VLC viewer directly from the Stream Vision application by first selecting "Files". After downloading the file from the pulsar device to your phone, touch the file name icon and you will see an Info, Share and Delete selection pop up. Touch the "Share" selection then select "copy to VLC" to send a copy of the file to VLC player. Exit out of Stream Vision then select the "VLC" icon application on your IPhone. You will now see the file listed on the VLC application and can play the video/audio file from there.

^^^didn't realize VLC had an iPhone app. That's awesome. I use it on the computer all the time for viewing those avi files from the scopes and dvrs.

I don’t have a link as I downloaded it from the App Store but it’s called smart converter and I think it was free. Here is what the app looks like

If you have a Mac just convert to work with Mac I think MP4 and then drag the clip to moviemaker and you are good to go.

I got grilled pretty hard on a different thread where I said that having the graphics brightness adjustable would be a good thing because it was just too darn bright. Most said I was out of my mind. It was just find the way it was.

Looks like Pulsar agreed with me.

...and which model do you own? or are you still holding out on account of "icon brightness" being too high

now that that excuse is solved - let us know how you get along with the thermal spotter on your hikes

So, this update has been around long enough for any bugs to be discovered, I would think. Has anything undesirable turned up?

I won't be using it until Spring so there is no reason to rush out and get it only for it to sit and collect dust. I'll wait and get one when there's a screaming deal and will be sure to let you know when I pull the trigger.

You have some strange criteria for shopping and buying thermal.

I mean after you get this screaming deal (have a feeling you’ll want it for less than dealer cost) and use it in the spring/summmer/fall you realize it is going to be just sitting there collecting dust next winter, right....

Anyhow , since you’ve waited this long Pulsar has released the Accolade - wouldn’t that be a great product for bird watching in the dark under a thick canopy....
