Brightest scope 1000 and under

I've had Swarovski's, Kahles and Zeiss Victory's in the past and honestly never seen the need for them for deer hunting. Guess what, last season in Comanche a very good buck walked out of the woods around 6:05 pm and I couldn't get see him well enough in my Elite 6500 scope for a clean shot. Arghhhh....

Money is much tighter now so what in your opinion is the brightest scope for 1000.00 or less? Going on a T3 Lite 7mm-08 with max shots less than 250 yds. Most shots 100-150. Thanks guys.

I looked through a VX-6 at SWFA last year and it had an amazing FOV but storelight isn't twilight.

Take a look at the Vortex Razor LH. I have one (3-15x) and it will go toe-to-toe with my Swaro SLC (10s) binoculars in low light conditions. I have successfully taken hogs in TX and predators in AZ up to 25 minutes after sunset (according to my iPhone). Another benefit is that it is very lightweight.

For $1000 and it barely squeaks in. Z-3 4-12 x 50 with the bold duplex is up there with the best of less than $1000. For that price it is my pick.

Meopta 3-12x56 is an incredible low light scope and they got the illumination right...

Zeiss victory ht 2.5x10-50 demo for a little over 1000 ($1045), light weight at 18.5oz. simple reticle for hunting. low light ability can only be topped by 56mm+ object heavy scopes.

I recently bought a rifle that came with a swarovski z3. Haven't hunted with it yet, but the glass is excellent....on par with the new vx-6. For the $$, I'd go with the leupold, if just looking for a great scope. American made and Leupold is easy to work with, if something happens to it.

I have a z3 3-10x42 and the Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42 and love them both, especially in low light. Added bonus for me is that they are pretty lightweight.

At $1045 for the victory HT...... if you could swing it, this would be my clear choice for your intended purpose. To my eyes ziess's HT glass is currently the top of the heap in low light.

My vote goes to a Trijicon Accupoint. I found the glass quality to be more than sufficient for low light hunting. And the illumination is just awesome.... always seems to be appropriate for the ambient conditions. It's not going to blind you at twilight, dim enough to be seen but not wash out the sight picture. And you don't have to jack with batteries.

Brightest, I'd say a Leupold VX-6 or VX-7. I own a VX-7, and we put it side by side with a Swaro. Clarity, I thought was better with the Leupold, and the functionality of the scope is much better on the Leupold.

Take a look at Sightron S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56mm . Its big and heavy but its a great low light scope. I love my Sightron scopes, clear, bright, excellent turrets.

They say everybody's eyes are different. I own the VX-6 and it is pretty good. I have not looked through a VX-7. I also have some Swarovski's. I agree with functionality for shooting long range the leupold is nice and it has clear and bright glass. For the OP's intended purpose I would choose the Swarovski. Leupold has closed the gap some, but for a point and shoot low light hunting scope my eyes say the Swarovski by a noticeable margin. If the demo Victory HT Zeiss is included, again for my eyes, as the OP intends to use it, it is the best I have used in low light. A

To the OP, all of these are really good scopes. You need to look through all of them yourself and decide what suits your eyes at dusk and dawn. For your purpose, although not the optimal choice for targets, a very thick reticle will help. Target shooters pay for power and tracking. For your purpose, lense coatings combined with objective diameter is what allow you to see deeper into twilight. How big to go with the objective before you get the Dolly Parton effect comes down to personal taste.

Neither are under a $1000, but I recently bought a Swaro Z5 3.5-18 and the new VX-6HD. The Leupold is the better scope and is brighter and more clear to my eyes, but was a few hundred dollars more.

In fact, I'll sell the Z5 with Ballistic Turret and 4W reticle for $1250 if you want it. It's been mounted and has been shot about 5 times on my rifle, perfect condition.

I've switched to Trijicon scopes. I have 2 3-9 accupoints and a 2.5-10 accupoints. Best low light hunting scopes I have ever used. Looking to trade a VX6 3-18x44 illuminated dot and some cash for a 2-12X42 or 5-20X50 trijicon accupoint...

It's under $1k and you can take it off and hammer nails with it and the quality won't be affected, just not sure it's the brightest.

As mentioned above it's a very subjective subject. I dumped my 3 Trijicons due to disappointing glass. They were good solid scopes but for the money I could do better so I did.

I just bought a Zeiss HD5 and was kinda disappointed in it's brightness right at dawn and dusk. I returned it and ordered a Meopta Meostar 3-12x56. I hope I did the right thing and am happier with the Meopta.

I've looked through Zeiss's many times and have never been impressed. I think they are pretty over-rated for the price and glass quality.
