Read above post. No XTR2, he doesn't want 34mm.
Man the reading comprehension is weak in these threads lately.

I like Zeiss Duralyt. 1.2-5x
Incredible brightness and super clear view

I use a Schmidt 1-4 for lightweight hunting. Pretty basic but great for dawn/dusk. Swarovski would be another one to look at.

So after getting my hands on 1-6 I have decided that I want a bit more mag...
Thinking 3-18, 2-10 ish area now
Where did all the good glass 30mm scopes go? Seems like all the new ones are 34mm and weight a ton. I think vortex gen 2 razor 3-18 is 40+'ounces
The mark 6 at 28 looks nice...

Re: 1-x scopes... - 07/29/17 03:23 AM
I have not seen improvement in terms of light gathering
And clarity by going with 30 or 34 mm
I have all of them
Glass quality and quality coatings have the most impact
Go look at 1" Zeiss. Swavroski s&an etc. but ones with
Good coatings and glass
Post up pics of your larue. Im a little surprised they are on the grendel and blackout flavors but opted for 260 over 6.5 creedmoor.
I like Vortex and the Nightforce SHV line of scopes. Reasonably priced with plenty of features.

Thank you.
Maybe my biggest gun related pet peeve. That and referring to every gun as a "tack driver".

Even though I have shot lots of tacks I never refer to a gun as a tack driver, to me this is a tack driver

If you are okay with 28 oz, another one to look at is the Steiner T5Xi 3-15x. It is also a 34mm, but weighs 29.8 oz, with very good glass. Basically an XTR II with german glass, better turrets and an ounce lighter. Also cheaper than the mark 6.
I have an XTR II 3-15x on my 6.5 creed AR-10 and like it but I wanted the Steiner, just couldn't swing it at the time.

You're a good referee.
Pretty easy to read the posts before posting and offering something that is clearly not of interest or helpful to the OP. Then again, I've asked for input on a specific item only, and received a lot of suggestions for other items I clearly had no interest in. Some folks just don't care I guess.
I mean... it is the internet. Everyone wants to offer their opinion, usually to the tune of, "I really like (insert whatever product they own here)."

Yup, it is. And I just don't see the point in suggesting a product that the OP specifically said he is not interested in. Agree to disagree I guess

All the reticles in the scopes recommended are terrible for hunting. too much crap around the lens, I call it Christmas Trees, circles , dots, you do not need these for hunting. Its all gimmick.
Get a cross hair with a 1 MOA illuminated center dot. . If you going to take advantage of the Grendel's potential, you're looking at the wrong scope type anyway.
oops,,,just saw where you saw the light on magnification choice. good for you
many of the scopes mentioned are heavy as boat anchors too,
IF you hurry you might still find a Leupold V-6, 1-6 with the center dot. Or Step up to the Leupold HD5 2-10 on sale at Cabelas and everywhere, Everything else is just tacticool looking clutter
All opinions expressed are the property of Buzzsaw

New VX-6 HD is really nice and 20 oz. I also have a brand new Swaro Z5 3-18x with ballistic turret that I would sell and it's 16 oz, but 1" tube.

for a good meat n' taters hunting scope that doesn't weigh a ton and has good glass for low light, I say Trijicon Accupoint 3-9. the illumination is perfect for hunting, never too bright, never too dull. All without being battery powered.
