Pulsar HD19A....any reviews?

Looking at a thermal spotter since my shoulder gets tired of holding up my rifle with the Mark II and suppressor which is a heavy combo.

Any reviews? Anyone have one and like it? How is the picture quality compared to the XD50S?

It's a good cheap spottter. Way better than most everything else in that price range.

I would just add that if you can step up a bit to the 38, that would make a lot of difference.

What distances are you planning on spotting? If you are doing the 0-200 yards and have the MKII for ID purposes, then that should work.

38 smokes the 19

The 19 is good for what is, but a move up to the 38 should be considered....and even then you won't IDing very far out.

I can't speak for the 19 but I love my 38. you really only want it to spot so the 19 should be just fine. If you're like me almost as soon as you see the hot spot you're switching to the scope anyway.

Go for the 38 for sure. With mine I can ID animals pretty far out, and def see animals way far out.

My definition of pretty far out for ID: 400 yards plus depending on movement and other characteristics

My definition of spotting way far out: over 900 yards. under ideal conditions (low humidity) prob could see over 1200 yards out, but with full humidity it drops down to 5-600 yards max. Conditions really make a big difference, and it may not be as bad as what I am saying, but clarity and details go way out with high humidity, spotting doesn't probably suffer as much.

I finally decided to take the plunge this week and ordered the HD38A from Ultimate Night Vision. They were very helpful answering my questions. Ordered Thursday arrived Friday. Also purchased the EPS5 battery pack. Took the unit out to the farm in Comanche county this eve to test out and see what thermal was all about. Spotted couple deer 500 yards out in open field easily. Made way over to creek bottom and the fun started. Spotted a group and eased my way thru the cows, lined up on a hog and nailed him. He ran about 50 yards and collapsed. Found 2 more hogs and did two more stalks and two more down. One made a nice run at me after being hit and another went behind a tree and I didn't know where he was till I was about 15 yds from him. If no cows present I could possibly have gotten 1 or 2 more. Currently using an old Civil War era Sightmark Photon-S 3.5. Thermal is definitely a game changer and a thermal scope for a new upper in 6.8 Spc will be next.

The thermal spotters open up a whole new world for night time hunters. They are fun. But as you said, now you will want a thermal scope. It never ends.
