Burris XTR 11 - 09/15/16 09:47 PM

I have been researching these scopes for some time and I am really close to buying a 5x25x50. I have located some for under $1000. From what I have seen and read it would be hard to find a scope of this quality at that price point. Can any of you give me some input. Thanks in advance.

Lots of previous positive comments. Use the search function on this, "Optics", forum.

I have the 3-18 and it rocks, especially for the price. Good luck finding one in stock. up

I have the 5x25 and it is rock solid on a Sendero 300WM, but as has been said on the heavy side, not for a stalking rifle IMO.

Can anybody that owns one tell me how the zero reset works? Does it have set screws and you lift the cap off and replace on the zero mark or is it the lift and turn style? And is it a positive zero stop unlike the PST where it moves a little past zero.

Two set screws on front 2mm. Mine is a hard stop at 0, but when you are resetting make sure you push down hard when tighten the set screw or else there is a little over run in my case 2 clicks.

Thanks. Hate to hear that. I hate the way Vortex uses the set screws to place the turret to zero and I hate their zero stop.

I know it's not the end of the world using those screws, just seems like a lift turn push down feature would be better

The stop itself is to pins for lack of a better term coming together one on knob and one on body. The screws are holding the knob down in place so they pins hit each other creating the stop. I agree vortex system is a reference not a stop. Not quite a Nightforce system but if set up right I have found it to be reliable.
