Red dot for a pistol

Red dot for a pistol - 09/13/16 02:25 AM

Toying the idea of doing a slide cut and adding a red dot of some sort. Is there any real advantage? I like the idea and concept I guess but I honestly don't know that I'd really see any benefit. Plus if I'm not mistaken I have to remove the rear sight which means I have to use the red dot primarily. Thoughts?

Some pistols can be milled in front of the rear sight, but taller sights will be necessary to use without removing the optic.

I like small red dots optics on pistols, but I run mine a little different than most. Since I am very a custom to picking up the front sight of the pistol and only the front sight, I have a hard time finding the dot when it's mounted on the rear of the slide. I like them mounted closer to the front sight, but that's just me. And NO, being closer to the front doesn't make the recoil any harsher and NO they aren't affected by muzzle blast.

I'd probably pick up a Glock that's factory cut or a m&p if I did it.
