Thor HD - 04/16/16 02:11 PM

I've seen where somebody says they have this.

I've seen some images on the book of face and it seems quite impressive.

I'd like some images and video of owners though.

Funny how the folks who have claimed to have it have failed to produce video. I know two folks who pre-ordered and neither have received them.

Re: Thor HD - 04/22/16 10:59 PM

The Thor HD have JUST NOW started shipping out this week - but ONLY a very few. It was just like the ATN X-Sight IIs that just finished shipping to most pre-orders. SLOW to start then after enough inventory came in shipped out a lot. Same here. NONE of the 640s have shipped as ATN is still working on the firmware for them. The Firmware for the 384 series WAS JUSt approved and that is why they just started to slowly ship out. They will wait to get feedback from teh few that did ship to ensure there is no major issues before they mass ship any more.

If you have any other questions let me know. I will be more than happy to answer them.

I'm definitely eager to see videos and reviews.

If this thing is 75% of what it has been trouted as, I'm in for a 640 flehan

Re: Thor HD - 04/23/16 09:05 PM

That's quite an interesting approach Nak -

I would believe if it is 75% of touted "advertised" capability that it should only cost you 75% of your intended purchase price but maybe your okay with paying 100% for a partial delivery of stated specification...

It's all good - thermal is king regardless so 50 / 60 / 99 % it don't matter in the end because it's super cool technology - cheers

...Well, by 75%, I referring to the SMART portion (, recoil activated video capture, gyroscopic image stabilization, Smart Range Finder, and Ballistic calculators).

Thier price point is quite a bit lower than the FLIR based products, that do not have most of these features. If its a solid Thermal sight, then I'd be good if some of SMART features were less than solid.

Re: Thor HD - 04/25/16 01:39 AM

If the gyroscopic image stabilization works like it does on the X-Sight HD, then it is crap. That is among the most shaky/jittery video I have seen and it isn't the shooters, but the technology ATN is using.

Re: Thor HD - 04/26/16 12:00 AM

I don't necessarily want image stabilization unless it's only in the video.

Good luck, I'm really anxious to hear how it works.

Rented a FLIR Thermosight 32 I think it was this past weekend, what a disappointment, though I did enjoy my first time out my ATN NVM14.

its all good I have one of the first day/night smart scopes also & still using it to kill pigs with. For me if the thermal works great and it holds zero it's a win & if the rest of the accessories built in work its a plus. I am easy to please.

Re: Thor HD - 04/26/16 12:12 PM

the only question I have: what is the best way to zero a thermal? never had one before.

My idea would be to use a small hand warmer. but getting it on the paper to tweak in may be interesting.

Easy to please? You are ATN's kind of customer, LOL.

You can use all sorts of things to zero a thermal. Handwarmers work. Reflective aluminum tape on a paper target works. Steel targets warmed by the sun work great as well.

get laser boresight, aim at bottle of hot/cold water in front of cardboard

adjust reticle

that should get you zero in 1-3 shots

Re: Thor HD - 04/29/16 11:35 AM

The HD Thermal you should be able to see the targets well. Also reflective tape works well as it will also reflect heat from he sun. For best results Zero it right after sunset with the reflective tape on the target where you want. Will hold the heat nicely. Also if you need assistance with the one shot zero feature let me know.

I used a hand warmer to zero my pulsar. Just staple it to a large blank sheet of paper so you can go out and see where it hits.

A chilled cans of any Coors product sitting in front of a target.

Re: Thor HD - 05/06/16 08:33 PM

Any of the above mentioned ways will work for zeroing. Hand-warmers, reflective tape, or if it's a fairly sunny day you can zero using a normal target in black-hot as the black lines and black center ring will be hotter than the rest of the paper (I was pleasantly surprised with that)
