Leupold VX-3i for AR (Need Input) - 04/16/16 12:23 AM

20 Bull Barrel .223 AR
Using it for varmints.

I can get one of these for $430.00 delivered.

I like the idea of it being a Leupold, but I have also heard they are having some things manufactured in China.

I'm also interested in the 6 x 18 for a 308 AR

Care to give any Apples -to- Apples input?

Thanks.

I won't buy a scope with more than 10 power, that does have a parallax adjustment. I'd either pay the extra for side focus or go with the 3.5-10×40

I didn't think about the parallax.
Thanks!
That is great advise.

You might consider one of these,

SWFA SS sale

SWFA is currently discounting some of their SS scopes. Prices good through the weekend.

All 3-15X42s $500 for the SFP and $560 for the FFP
3-9X42 HD model for $500
10x42 HD for $700

Nice!

I was looking awhile back at the SWFA stuff.
I didn't know they were on sale.

I already have a couple of their optics and have NO complaints.

I appreciate the heads-up!

No Leupold scopes are made in China. Blows me away the stuff you hear. I don't like that big of a scope on an AR-15. Biggest VX-3i I'd go on an AR is 2.5-8x36, but that is me.

Please define varmints

Does that mean predators, prairie dogs , or night?

Varmints:
Coons, Skunks & Coyotes for the most part.
80% of the shots have been at 125/yards +/-

I have been running this rig for about 10 years with a 1980 model Bushnell 3x9.(Been a great optic)
It pretty much stays at 6x

Now that I have a 'Can, I want something with an elevation knob I can twist on.
I also have an area now I can get to 500/yards with.

I do have much better hardware for killing at 500 but I would also like to tinker with the 223 at that range.

As for Chinese Leupolds, I was curious since I have seen first had that they are having Binos made there.
A buddy got a set of Binos for xmas a couple of years ago and showed me the box. Made In China.
