Re: I never rant, BUT, screw OpticsPlanet - 09/08/15 09:12 PM

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me in January. They had the base I needed in stock, so I ordered it, only to find out that after I paid for 2 day shipping that it was out of stock. That did me no good, and they had already processed the transaction. I got tracking # about 2 weeks later but nothing ever arrived. I called and they gave me their bs and I gave them my 2cents. This went on and happened 2 more times. Once it finally shipped, it took 7 days to arrive, so much for 2 day shipping. When I called to complain again, the manager told me that because it had taken 6 weeks to ship that they didn't see the need in shipping it 2-day. Never mind the fact that I paid for that, they never reimbursed me for it either. When I initially ordered there was something like 20 in stock

I have heard bad things about this place also. I won't buy from anyone but SWFA, great service from them.

I've been screwed by SWFA, so it's not like they're perfect either. I've had great dealings with OP and have ordered from them 5-6 times. Did you call them to see what they could do?

FWIW, both Home Depots in Lubbock showed to have a latch I wanted in stock. One showed 2, the other 22. Neither store had the item on the shelf. It happens.

I understand stuff happens. But it appears to be false advertising to me. Probably within legal limits of the law but false none the less.

Did you call them? You say your money is 'tied up' but if they haven't shipped then they ought to be able to give you a refund and cancel your order. If you understand stuff happens, you could chalk it up to bad luck and order from somebody else. Again, if you do enough business this happens. I'm sorry they don't have it and understand your frustration but you seem to be blowing this out of proportion. They alerted you to the problem, they didn't just sit on your money and make you call them weeks later to find out not only did they not have the product but they didn't know when you would be getting it, if ever.

I have not called them. I received their email at the close of their business day. Money being tied up is not really an issue. It's the false advertising that pisses me off. It still shows available. I may be blowing this out of proportion but I never have these issues with SWFA or Midway or ....

Just for future reference SWFA has a price match guarantee and also if call and order through Skylar he gives THF discounts which include free shipping. Skylar has top notch customer service.

I had that exact problem with SWFA, BTW. I ordered ammo off their site because they were the only ones that supposedly had it, while everybody was backordered 8or more weeks. Time passed and no ammo arrived so I called. Turns out they'd been out for a long time and didn't know when the next shipment was coming. Yet it was still available on their site which at the time was just a product list and not tied to a realtime inventory system (found that out later). They cordially cancelled my order but I felt a lot like you are feeling now.

Re: I never rant, BUT, screw OpticsPlanet - 09/09/15 02:24 AM

I had the same thing happen with SWFA. Seems lots of optics vendors have trouble implementing 15 year old technology linking real-time inventory status to their online product availability. Not sure why it's such a problem.

In my situation, I called Skylar on the phone and he treated me better than I even expected. So I have no room to complain. But none of them are perfect. If I'm betting on having to use customer service though, I'll go with SWFA every time.

Interestingly enough, I just tried to order the scope listed above. The 6 in stock are the non-demo units, it clearly states to call, chat or email on the Demo units to check availability. If it read that same way earlier, it seems you just misread it.

I've also had the same thing happen with swfa.Didn't really bother me though, these things happen. I don't think the medium size companies can afford the softwar/design/technicians to setup real time inventory like the big guys like cabelas

That's just not the case anymore. Linking storefronts to inventory is standard practice now. It's cheap to do. Use Amazon Web Services to build your website.
