Question Re sighting in and suppressor..... - 08/30/15 11:13 PM
Question for you ballistic gurus out there..
So, I swapped scopes of a couple of my hog/predator rifles (6.8 and 300 BO) and went to the range to sight them in unsuppressed. Then, attached my newly acquired supressors to see how point of impact was affected (man, that first suppressed shot, even supersonic was sweet!)....
Sighted them in at 50 yrs (these will be 90% night shooting rigs)
The 300 shoots about 2 in low suppressed and the 6.8 about 1 in low...
Since I havent decided if I will shoot these rifles suppressed 100% of the time (if so, I would have just sighted them in with the suppressor on) I am looking for a way to compensate when switching back and forth from un-suppressed to suppressed.
How consistent is that 2 inch difference over my MPBR distance? Do I just always aim 2 in higher when suppressed, or does it change with target distance?
Or, when I attach the suppressor can I just dial in 2 in of "up" (which since I sighted in at 50 and the turrets are calibrated for 100 yrds, I really would dial in 4 in)
Hope that question makes sense. I only had about an hour before the range closed, or else I would have played around with it more. Also, when I get to the lease, I will have a chance to actually shoot at various distances and see for myself what happens.
Thanks!
