Skylar, CC, others? The time has come. Long range scope purchase - 06/22/15 07:43 PM

I have ask some about these but will be buying later this week so it's time to make a decision

Kahles 624i at $2900

Bushnell Elite 3.5-21x50 at $1450-2000

I am looking at these two scopes. I am open to suggestions and you see my budget above but would prefer to stay at or under the Kahles at $3000. Could spend a little more if someone make a convincing argument. Looking at 34mm tubes as you see.

Is the $1450 Elite DMR the same quality as the $1950 one minus the Zero stop?

I really want the Kahles. But is there $1000+ difference in it and Elite? The Kahles ergonomics really appeal to me with the top paralex adjustment and the rev indicator system they have. Does the glass really smoke the Elite? They both offer reticles I like.

While I can say Bushnell has made some long strides in the LR game, I cannot honestly tell you that they are comparable to Kahles.

The 624i is sick. I have a friend who uses one competitively and originally back ordered a Schmidt and bender, before I turned him on to these because at the time it was something that was available.

He absolutely loves it. He still picked up the S&B, but after using the MSRK reticle and shooting very successfully, he can't say enough about it.

Do you have the kahles in stock?

I have the 3.5-21 ERS on loan from Bushnell right now.

I can tell you the glass is fantastic! When I'm using it to spot shooters, I usually see trace. With other scopes the conditions have to be just right. I cannot speak on the Kahles, personally. Though I know several that rave about them. I just don't know if it's worth another thousand dollars.

I saw several kahles Saturday at the prs match. I wanted to get behind one but didn't get the option. They say the glass is second to none.

Sklar what's the consensus on tge Bushnell lrhs. There are reports that the glass is the best bushnell has made and comparable to top tier stuff.

Well I may have wasted your time. I got up there this morning and one of the guys brought out a SS 5-20 HD illuminated while I was fondling the elite 3.5-21. Someone had just traded it in and it was in perfect condition. He made me an offer I couldn't pass up so it is now sitting on my rifle. After getting it home and checking it out at 200 yards I believe I will never be unhappy with it as long as shield my eyes from alpha glass. Thanks again for all the input. Sorry I was led astray.

You still got an outstanding scope. I've been working the crap out of one for four years and it hasn't left me in want yet. I probably will always have a place for it and won't ever sell it.

I wrote a review on tacticalgunreview.com, if you'd like to see what you just purchased can do.

for 2900 I wouldn't look anywhere but a S&B 5-25 DT p4F , probabably going to have to be used but who gives a shhhhh. its a S&B.....

Now if you want to save 12-1500 and stock up on shhhh piles of ammo you can do no wrong going with the Bushnell and there is no need to pay anywhere north of 1500 even for the one with the 10mil knob and zero stops

I'm glad I went with the SS. I had no hesitation buying it as they seem to have 100% positive reviews.

So are you the one that bought the one off the sample list today?

I don't know if it was even listed on the sample list.

There's no way I would drop 2900 on a used S&B unless it was at a dealer. They have had some bad rep lately of poor qc and cs in their warranty work. That and Kahles is every bit as good without as much markup.

Its true they had a line of scopes out that have some issues but the specific model I referenced is the pinnacle of a long rage snipery optics It makes me chuckle when someone says bran X optic is just as good as a S&B but has never has anyone ever said S&B is as good as brand X

heavy lies the crown

They were king when they were the only game in town for features and top glass but hold nothing over Hendsolt or Kahles even the Leupold mk8 is in the same level.

It may not have been, but I got the Sample email list last night and it had a DEMO-B version of that exact scope on it. I checked about 15 minutes after I got the email and it was already sold so I don't know if they mistakenly listed it or if they had it in addition to the one you snagged and it sold immediately. Congrats on the scope either way! I got a really, really good deal on a Viper PST 6-24 FFP MRAD but for the price they listed ($999) I might have stepped up to get the demo SS.

The Khales is bad [censored]..
But then Bushnell has been kicking butt lately.. big time.

I only own one S&B, a 1.5-6x42 I run on my 6.8 for hunting.. LOVE that scope to death.

The last few years has been a game changer in optics.
