Vortex Reticle

Looking at getting the Vortex PST 6-24 and wanted some opinions on reticles? I'm going mil not moa but do you recommend the EBR-1 or EBR-2C?

Personal opinion is where this decision is made. I don't like the tree reticle as I feel like they are too busy so ebr1 would be my choice.

That makes sense. I just didn't know if the EBR-2c might be helpful for holdovers. But if it's blocking the target then it may be counter productive.

I'm with dee. I don't like the Christmas tree reticles either, since I rarely use pure holds. Meaning I dial elevation and hold wind. I'd rather have cleanliness around the reticle, and I feel it is easier to spot misses for myself and other shooters. When a miss happens, if you see splash, only a little practice is required to graph where the splash occured.

Yesterday evening I missed my cold bore shot at 600 yards, and was using the EBR-1 reticle. I saw it miss .1 Mil right of the target, and on the follow up shot I made a center hit, since I remembered what I had held on the previous shot.

I know some law enforcement guys using the tree. I've shot with them, they fire, see their hit, no dialing, make the adjustment on the grid, and before I knew it the gong was ringing. It was the fastest thing I've ever seen. They had no problem seeing their splash misses.

I did the same thing today and so did a THF member that was a student with a EBR-1 reticle, with less clutter. Why hold elevation AND wind when you have a perfectly good elevation turret on top?

I don't know, I would think it might be a speed thing, their eyes don't get too far away from the target. They see the miss, make a grid adjustment, then let another bullet go. No looking at a turret, marks, hearing clicks, --just make the adjustment through the scope and let it rip. If you were looking at multiple targets that shoot back, you might make adjustments faster--or you may not.

The exact same can be achieved without a Horhouse reticle.

Agreed. About the only tree type reticle that looks tolerant to me is the G2 in the Bushnell scopes but it is far less cluttered than most and night and day to a Horus.

That's is not bad at all for a "tree" reticle. I don't find the popular Bushnell G2 busy either

No, Dave, that's not all that busy. Reticles with the grids are terrible, though. But this one is cleaner. However, it is a rare ocassion to need pure holds, since we dial elevation at every opportunity.

It's still a bit much for me. I'll agree that it's a lot better than the Horus grid.

Ive got the ebr-2c on order now. I thinks it much cleaner that my Leupold h58 reticle. I like the tree style mainly because its faster to measure your misses and to make a quick hold instead of dialing if you need to do it quickly. I think it makes your follow up shots quicker.
