Not sure what your asking?
Better description.
Because of past theft issues, we installed a DIY infrared security system at our barn about 8 years ago.
Definitely not as up to date as it could or should be but still works. At one point, we had a VHS recorder tied to it, but haven't run that in awhile.
While I was in the shop welding(doors closed but slider was cracked about a foot with fan exhausting), someone just happen to see one of the cameras pickup a signature in a direction that is a field. Its about 2, maybe 3 acres in size. The house behind it is 1/4 of a mile away. Its unoccupied (man is in nursing home). The individual that saw the light is related to the owner and knows there should be no one in that direction.
My question is....
"If looking in the direction of the IR cameras with a thermal device, would the device give off any type of signature?".
I worded it very badly because of the excitement going on.
If anyone took the initial post as anything else, I apologize.

You are still being vague and the backstory really didn't help. A thermal does not give off any signature of its own that would be seen by a NV device beyond whatever light is reflected off of it or its lens. Similarly, the person in the field could have had an NV device, not thermal.

If you are asking if the thermal device would give off a "signature" of any type that the security camera could see, the answer is no.
Thats the information I am looking for.
Thank Yall VERY much.
