affordable scope ideas for a 10/22 - 11/02/14 07:32 PM

Hello all, I just purchased a heavy bull barrel ruger 10/22 and it needs a scope, now im not a big shooter, i might take it out 3-4 times a year at best so i dont want to invest in a pricy scope. I do want something that will fit well at an affordable budget thats accurate, i would just mostly be shooting targets and such, not any hunting with it.Ive thought about a red dot scope but dont know anything about them. I figure my price range to be about 100.00-150.00 is where I would like to be. Thank you much.

Just bought the wife a 22 and will need to scope it. Finally decided to donate the Leupold 2-7 off of my 39A for her to use. That's because I've wanted a newer scope with BDC. I bought the Nikon 3-9 rim fire scope with BDC. I can't help but think that new scope will help me out at 75 or so yards. Cost me $150 at the Waco Cabelas. Don't forget suitable mounts and rings. I did. Dang it.

Nikon pro staff is what I usually put on mine. Cheap clear enough out to 100 and I can walk in anywhere and buy one. Burris fullfield ii would also be a good choice. Or really any rim fire scope would do the trick. Or swfa sample list usually pretty good about stuff.

Nikon and Cabela's both make a 22 specific scope that are reasonable. I have both but have only shot the Cabela's and it was great. Sighted at 50 yds and the 100 yd mark was spot on. Friends had a great time ringing a 4 inch steel plate all day at 100 yds.

The nikon 3-9 x 40 should cover all your needs and the spoton application can help with sub tensions your price point should be no more than $150 for this scope

Web (free) and Phone app (small fee $5?)

Well, a few years back I picked up a BSA Sweet .22 for my bull barreled 10/22 and I've truly been surprised by the clear sight picture, easy adjustment, etc. Generally speaking, I'm very negative about cheap scopes, but I can honestly say that the Sweet .22 has been satisfactory in every way. I've had 3 BSA air rifle scopes and two 36x rifle scopes, so I'm not blind to the various faults of BSA products. Once of the 4x air rifle scopes broke and the two 36x scopes are completely different physically even though they are nominally the same model. I would rate one as mediocre but usable and the other one as very marginal.

I think two, maybe three of the scopes were freebie premiums on purchases from Grafs; the others were acquired by the combination of eBay access and boredom. While I have significant reservations about BSA, the Sweet .22 has been pretty good. Especially for the very modest $$.

Simmons White tail classic 6.5x20x50 is great for the money. Durable and clear if you get the Phillipines manufactured ones. 119.00 @ midway right now. Good price for a scope and doesnt break the bank if it gets messed up.

I have a vortex crossfire II 4-14x44 on my Savage Mark II TR. It was around $135 on ebay. It's been great so far.

Was in FW Cabelas on Friday, they had a stack of Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 matte w/BDC for $129 ($100 off), might be a little oversize for the 10/22 but for that price.........
