556 "Green Tip" Ammo - 02/26/15 08:40 PM

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like 556 "green tip" ammo is about to banned with one of Obama's executive actions. You can read more about this on Drudge Report.

That said, even though it would be for the armor piercing rounds there will most likely be a run on 556/223 ammo in the near future. In fact, our friends at Cheaper than Dirt (McKinney location) have been nice enough to already mark up all of their 556/223 ammo for us. I was there today and asked why there regular 556 FMJ was now $24.99 and just a few days ago it was $9.99. He said it has always been that price which I know to be a lie.

All this to be said, stock up while you can at the Walmart, Academy, etc. and don't spend your money at CTD. They love to price gouge and are at it again!

Good luck and good shooting!

I saw some yesterday when I was running around but have seen ZERO today. Guess when the news finally made it into the main stream news people got serious about buying. Been watching gun broker for the last several days and the $.50 round wasn't getting any attention at all. Now the bids are exceeding the $.50 per round mark again. Just wait till the final announcement is made on the 16th or so. People will go absolutely nuts for this round or anything stamped "5.56".

Picked up two 120 round ammo cans of M855 at Academy for $59.99 today. I will save it for a rainy day.

Instead of talking about it here, send comments to all of your congressional reps and the White House.

They can do something, but they need to know that citizens care and demand action.

There's nothing wrong with anyone doing that as well..but I fully believe it will do absolutely no good. This ban isn't a legislative action that any legislator has any input or control over, it is executive. And the person holding that executive office doesn't give a damn what you, I or anyone else thinks. He believes that he knows what is best for all of us and he'll implement those decisions against our wishes and with absolutely no regard or care for us, the Constitution or the Bill of Rights....Rudy got it right.

I'm afraid the only way this will be stopped is the only way that any of this administrations executive actions can be stopped - thru the 3rd branch of government (judicially). Once ATF imparts their stupid little rules then there will be a good legal case against them based on the wording (and intentions) of the legislation that they profess to operate under. The question is, will the NRA, ISSF, ammo manufacturers or anyone else bring suit against them to challenge it? It wasn't done for 7n6 and now we have this ban. If the administration isn't challenged on the legal front (and lose) on m855 - then don't expect the banning to end here. He's still got about 2 years to muck things the hell up good.
