285 pound Buck

285 pound Buck - 01/29/18 01:20 AM

Just spoke with a BiL back in Louisiana. His son killed a 285 pound 6 point at the end of the season. That’s twice the full body weight of the bucks here in central Texas. But...ours are easier to drag, and I have aged a touch. Don’t need to try to drag a big one anyway.

Back in the day I killed one that weighed 250, and even being young and strong back then, I could not budge that deer.

I am guessing that deer had access to a soybean field.

Jake, that is correct. But that wasn’t the record buck from that property. Per my cousin, the heaviest weighed buck was at 299 pounds, some years ago.
