Baiting for WMA - 12/23/17 01:27 AM

So i was picked to hunt a WMA and am allowed to bait? Is there anything better to quickly draw them in other than corn? Its a 2 1/2 day hunt. Tips appreciated in advance!

Personally, I'd just stick with corn, if even that. Go with what they're most likely used to eating. On that short a hunt you won't have time to change their diet, but anything weird they're not used to could easily change their pattern for a day. Congrats! Good luck and be safe!

I went on a archery public land hunt and used C'Mere Deer 3-Day Harvest along with corn. Within an hour after putting it out, had a doe come out like she was on a string and walked straight to where I poured the C'Mere Deer pellets on the ground. I harvested that doe and told my friend that was hunting with me about how she reacted to the C'Mere Deer. He hadn't seen anything. That evening hunt, I poured some on the ground near his stand and a short time later, he called me on the phone and said that he had shot a doe. He and I couldnt believe how fast the deer came out to check it out. It does have a great scent to it. I also want to try the big and J BB2 but havent had a chance yet. There was only 2 other deer harvested out of numerous hunters in the three days we were able to hunt. We had several other does come into range but could only harvest one doe and one buck. No shooter bucks showed.

+1 on the corn especially if the hunt manager has been putting out corn. I would add some sent wicks to your bag of tricks. If it is a hunt where you can take a buck then use doe in heat. I had success last year at a WMA where a buck could be taken. The last morning a nice 10 pt came in with his nose high in the air and walked up very near to where I had the sent wick hanging before I shot him. If you can't take a buck then just use regular doe sent. I do think it helps to bring the does in and at least keep them in the area.

The description of the hunt should tell you if you are allowed (or not) to use bait. If it doesn't then call the number they give you for more info. Another option is to call the Game Warden assigned to the county that you'll be in.

Depends on the place, some do not allow baiting, they're all different.

Sorry, didnt mean to have a question mark after that first sentence. The place i am hunting does allow for bait, some good comments here, will maybe try corn and something else, maybe the Cmere stuff that DJS mentioned.

My experience with C'Mere deer a few years ago is they didn't even sniff at it.
This year on the spur of the moment I bought a bag of Wildgame Persimmon CRUSH I mean it works for Tiffany why not me. I was hunting overlooking a dry creek-bed an east west travel route. At exactly noon a 6pt buck came walking down the creek walked right by the Attractant didn't even sniff it.
Next morning it was all gone hogs loved it.
