Scored in Kansas - 11/27/17 12:49 PM
I had been in the Panhandle all week, but my buddy who lives in Kansas called me Friday saying he was off from work for the weekend and to come on up. Well since it was 85 degrees in the Panhandle, I said oh roger that. I'm there. So I drove up Friday evening, bought my tag, and then on Saturday morning I climbed into a familiar burr oak from which I had shot a couple good bucks in years' past. This tree overlooks a VERY nice funnel and deer move through there regularly.
Right at daylight, I saw a nice buck at about 80 yards but he wasn't interested in any of my grunting or rattling, and after a minute or two, he moved on.
About 20 minutes later, a doe comes trotting through with a buck about 25 yards behind her and grunting all the way. He passed me at about 12 yards and I let the Slick Trick eat. The shot was high and quartering-to, but hit all it needed. He ran about 50 yards and piled up in sight, spraying blood all the way. Crazy blood trail, I must say. I'm one blessed dude.
