Dedicating this season to getting my daughter a buck before I pull a trigger. At first light, some hogs came and she made a low shot on a sow that ran, but we got to listen to some squealing for a bit.
Had a buck come out 15 min later I've never seen before. Not sure what he'd score, but I'd have shot him without thinking about it if hunting by myself. Unfortunately, by the time she found him in the scope he stopped presenting a shot then disappeared slowly into the woods. Hoping he'll make another appearance. He might be the largest buck taken off our place, if ever taken.
Had a very pretty 8 come within 20 yards of us,but he's young and likely not legal. She wanted him but got to learn a lesson about letting them walk.
Saw a few does while typing this. Hope someone is following them. None of the deer have checked the feeder and not seeing any rut signs yet, though I'd think they have to be close.
