I bought a doe decoy online and it looks great, am going to use it at a state park hunt.

I have a "Tinks" brand doe decoy. It is a "blow up" style. I have put it out when rattling and it works great! Keeps the buck looking at it and not you. I have never had it spook deer. I will spray it down with scent killer then add a little "tinks" doe in heat scent to the tail portion. It looks real and I like using it.

I bought the one from Midway (blemished), was cheap, goes together easy, turns in the wind, looks real enough that my dog is scared of it. I think it will fool the deer into coming out for a decent shot.

A Doe decoy can really get you a chance to get a shot if used at the right times. I bought another decoy last year after giving my first one to my buddy 7 years ago. The new Flambeau Boss Babe Doe decoy is not as good as the original one. The legs go on with screw caps instead of twist locking in. I am going to use a heat gun to get the legs to sit flat against the body better after the season is over. The place on the body where they go in to it, is curving outward so I don’t get a nice tight fit. You definitely have to stake it down. I painted some stakes brown and pound them in with a rubber mallet. I also bought the Tail-Wagger tail motion kit for it. I sprayed some of the back area with white paint like they suggest so the decoy doesn’t look like it has two tales lol. I am planning on using it tomorrow to draw the deer in. I have had good luck using a Doe decoy in the past and this tail motion kit should really help to take their eyes off of me when they come over to inspect it.

Make sure that you spray scent killer and wipe it down to remove all the scent off of it. Then hang a scent wick above it, another on the leg where the holder is and then sprinkle a little between the legs. You also want to think about which direction you want it to be facing and what’s the best area for your decoy set up. There are a lot of okay videos on YouTube about hunting with a deer decoy that will help you out. I have a trail that comes out from the left tree line that the deer take to their bedding areas and my blind is set up on a man made road that they come out to. It’s on my buddies private property and the people to the left do not hunt so the deer like to use their land for bedding down. It’s 35 yards from my blind to the trail on the left and 40 yards to where it meets the cross road where my feeder is.

I always put a pile of corn, Acorn Rage or some other attractant on the right side of the road leading up to my feeder across from the trail they come out of. So I will be placing my decoy with it’s rear facing 8 and it’s head facing 2 on the right side of the road where I always dump some extra food for them. My hunting blind area is set up for archery. I have had deer come out to the left side behind my blind and from another trail that is 10 yards from my blind. Last year I had a young buck scratching itself against my 5ft tower lol. I never even knew he was there until I started hearing something brushing up against the left side of the tower. I also use an Ozonics and it seems to work well for me. The Ozonics fan seems to make a little bit of noise for the first 15 minutes that it’s turned on and then it seems to quiet down. My windows are 8ft from the ground and it doesn’t seem to bother them, but I wouldn’t use it at ground level unless I turned it on at the car for some time before taking it in to a ground blind. I will post an update on how the decoy works for me at this point in the season. Once the rut fully kicks in, the decoy should bring them right in with some Doe estrus. Look in to the Tail-Wagger tail motion kit because it gives that little extra realism to your decoy to bring in those deer that are cautious. Hope this helps you out and good luck!

Try this. It's great for rifle season on public land!

I use decoys all the time - they work! Have seen some pretty cool things as deer interact with the decoy.

Be very careful using it on your state park hunt, as you don't know the other hunters around you. I'd position it so that if some dummy takes a shot at it, you won't be in the line of fire.

Let us know how it goes!

State park hunts are strict on you staying in the blind and should not have to worry about seeing another hunter. Plus it is a gun hunt so I plan on the decoy being 50 to 70 yards away.

Here is that tail wagger motion kit that I installed in my Boss Babe Doe Decoy. This is before I painted the rest of the rear end white so it doesn’t look like it has two tails. They say to do that in the directions for it. I will be finally taking it out this Thursday. It swings and twitches every couple of seconds.
