Opening Day Success!!

Been watching this buck for a few years. Last year he was a 9 with 2 kickers off his G2. When he was eating last night i noticed he has a huge bump on his side and decided to shoot him. We just lost a buck last week that died for an unknown reason and I didn't want that to happen to this cool dude. He was actually better last year and I didn't understand why he grew so messed up until I found out just what that big knot was on his side! I cut around the knot and popped out a broad head! One of the guys kids had shot him the year prior and wounded him. I've always heard if you wound a buck his horns will grow back different the next year. Either way a great start to the season and an awesome shot for my 2nd ever bow kill! He ended up wth 12 points.

I had a buddy kill a buck YEARs ago that had a knot as you discribed. He cut into it also and found a broadhead. Deer are tuff animals to take down at times. Dang good kill though.

I shot a doe a few years back, and found a broadhead stuck along the ribcage. Sometimes I wonder how many actually get wounded with arrows and never get recovered. I'm sure a lot are probably lost to arrow wounds.

Injuries can do funny things to a deer. My pops killed a buck when I was about 10 that would have been a nice little 8 pt, but he had broadhead stuck about knee high in his right hind leg and it caused his left side antler to just be one long curly-qued spiral

That's a cool rack.

I used a Kill Zone 2" Mechanical. Heart shot, he ran maybe 75 yards. The blood trail tracking him looked like someone took a 5 gallon bucket of blood and just dumped it all over the place. it was awesome!
