Tipping for guided hunt

Alright guys, I need some honest feedback on tipping a guide for a 2500 hunt on a fenced ranch. Arrive at noon on a Friday and leave at noon on Sunday. What is a decent tip for this?

I'd say 10% of hunt cost. But if he works his butt off for you I'd say 15-20%.

I HAVE BOTH GUIDED AND OUTFITTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. YOU HAVE SOME GUIDES THAT WORK THEIR BUTTS OFF AND DESERVE A GOOD TIP AND THEN YOU HAVE SOME THAT DO THE MINIMAL AMOUNT AN DESERVE AN AVERAGE OR MINIMAL TIP. IT IS JUST LIKE GOING TO A RSTAURANT AND IF THE SERVICE IS GREAT EQUALS A GOOD TIP.

Tip what you feel is best for the service you received, not whether or not you harvested. Also as to what is in your budget. We went on a hunt last year with a forum member, and I wished we could have afforded to tip the fella as he worked to get my wife her first deer, but it just wasnt in our budget at the time. We definitely plan to hunt with him in the future and he will receive a gracious tip. I would say 10% is the starting standard

Tip what you can afford and what you think the guide was worth. I own my place and guide it. I don't really expect any tips and many times I don't get any. If I did this for a living then maybe I would think differently. I have seen some guides expect a big tip for really not producing much in return. I have also seen guides get very little for working their rears off for the hunter. Tipping in a lot of ways is a feel good thing. If you think you are coming back to a place to hunt and you think you are getting the same guide then it may be in your best interest to act accordingly. The biggest thing about tipping is tip what you can afford and tip what you think the person who guided you and the cook that cooked your food did for the tip. It is a personal decision.

Tip for the amount of effort the guide puts into your hunt . Any tip is appreciated

I was planning on bringing 250.00 or so for a 2500 hunt. Since it is not a week long fair chase hunt, I figured 250 would be a good tip. 200 for the guide and 50.00 for the cook. I'm not sure if the guide is the cook or not. He drops you off at the stand and picks you up afterward. He cares for your game 100% afterward. He has many references about him being a first class guide.
Last year I went on a 3500 guided hunt and it was tough hunting but personally I had a blast. I was trying for one of two deer i liked and on the fourth day I took a deer that was a bit smaller than I wanted to take. Guide and I miss judged him. He was a 2500 buck. I paid my 3500 and tipped him 500 bucks. I became friends with the guide and he even told me I over tipped. This year I am on a very tight budget. I wanted to try a different area of Texas so I booked another place. I am on a very tight budget but I don't want to offend a guide by not tipping enough especially when I'm pretty sure he will do a great job. I have 250 saved up. I might try and swing an extra 50.00 if I can work it out

It depends on how hard the guide works not based off the price of the hunt in my opinion , Especially if you plan to go hunting there again, it definitely does make a difference I've noticed over the past two years when I've called tobook several hunts with a local lodge they have been a lot more accommodating and they will help you get prime hunting times they would rather have a customer that they know will be coming back and tip well over someone who comes once and never comes back .
