I have a place about 25-30 miles SW from Ozona that I have been helping a friend manage and cull "ugly" bucks (the biologist's term) for about 5-6 years. There are some good genes but also some really nasty ones too. Most of the stuff we have seen that we considered culls to remove, were fully mature deer (5.5 y/o or older) but stubby or no G1 (slick) and/or freaks similar to the one you showed earlier with the funky antlers in velvet and 3.5+ y/o spikes (14+ inches long). The past two years we have started seeing much better 4.5+ y/o deer but they don't really have all that much mass (no protein being feed). The typical decent buck I have seen on the hoof that frequently come into our feeder pens are likely in the 120-mid 130s . We adjoin a 35k+ acre low fence ranch that feeds protein year around and I can definitely tell the difference when one of their bucks comes chasing does over on our place.
Man we use to hunt out there off Live Oak Rd for about 12 years and never saw deer like that out there. This was years ago but you have some good looking deer there!
Are these pictures blown up? If not go buy a different camera Browning Strike Force good field view you might be missing some good deer on camera. There are some good deer in Ozona if your on the right place.
