Anthrax - 09/30/16 01:35 PM

I was dove hunting around Batesville and La Pryor last weekend and over heard the guide talking about a high fence ranch being hit by anthrax. The guide advised our group not to touch or go near any dead or dying deer we may encounter in or around the field we were on. I tried to find info on it but only found this link for Kinney County. http://www.texasalloutdoors.com/Outdoor-...southwest-texas Be careful out there.

The height of a fence won't stop Anthrax. Anyone who hunts out there needs to read up on it and what to look for.

Exactly, I wish I knew the name of the ranch but it was miles from us and they wanted us to be aware of the possibility of it already being spread to other places. We were also told one of the ranch hands tried to move a carcass and was in the hospital being treated.

It occurs naturally in the ground. If you get a lot of rain it surfaces. There is protein feed that has anthrax treatment in it. You'd think a high fence operation would be on top of this.
