Working smarter not harder

Needed to swap out one of our blinds before the season. Before we always knocked the blind over on a flat bed moved and stood it back up. Not to hard, but required some effort and could be difficult in tight places. My brother picked up a set of forks for his tractor to move totes of water for our water stations and just by chance we tried to move a stand and ill be darned if it doesn't work. We put the new one out staked it down and pulled the old one out all in about an hour and the heaviest thing we had to pick up was a chain to pull some t-post anchors. That hour counts trimming some limbs and the slow ride too and from camp to the huntin spot.

This one was originally built about 20 years ago and has been just sitting in our camp yard since we took it off our old lease, I will be happy to finally be hunting out of it again!

You did good. I had an old boss years ago that told me. "Don't make work out of a little job" Looks like you were following his advice.

Might not happen with a tower that size & weight for ballast, but, be careful when lifting blinds with pallet forks / bale spears using a farm tractor. I've seen at least half a dozen in the last few years tip over towards the tractor and come down on the hood / operator.
I always go around the blind with a ratchet strap & tightly secure it to the backstop.

I do the same thing, but don't have the forks. I just put the bucket mouth flat against the blind and use the big ratchet straps to hold it there. And yes, be very careful that the blind is secure and doesn't come back on top of you.

I thought about strapping it down, but felt pretty sure there was no way it was coming over the forks at the operator. We moved it at the same tilt its at in the picture, if it went anywhere it wasn't coming back at the tractor.

All things are possible when enough force is applied to a load of that nature. Better to be safe.

At least you didn't try it alone. I'm guilty of doing that occasionally.
