It would be a good place to find blood, which is what they're after.

There are several bucks on my place that have ticks on their antler growth. We killed 5 pigs a couple weeks ago, and there were ticks on two of them.
Ticks are bad this year.

It is pretty common to find ticks on antlers this time of year.

A young buck was road kill near my house last year. Stopped to check it out and his antlers were covered in ticks with white spots on them.

white spots on the ticks? Lyme disease?

The ticks with the white spots are Lone Star ticks. Considerable blood flow to the antlers when actively growing, so very much susceptible to tick infestations. Very common, and actually a good place for them to be since there are no nerve cells in growing antler (doesn't itch).

Ticks are bad this year. Found 2 on my dog after this weekends trip to the ranch. I had a few crawling on my pants leg. Once it dries out there should be less. They like humidity.
