Looking at a lease north of aspermont can anyone tell me what to expect as far as size of deer and numbers

Jut where north?
Got on one a few years back just off Hwy 83, 900 or 700 acres with a cabin with Salt Fork of Brazos River frontage. Had no deer, no turkeys and no quail. What it did have was a lot of hogs, a lot of bobcats, and cows.
Then, I got on another one right out of Peacock, NW of Aspermont, and it had everything you wanted. Great lease.

This is my experience as well due north of Aspermont about a mile west of 83. Had a small place right on salt fork. Lots of hogs very few deer.

When I was young and easily influenced, an old timer once told me Aspermont is where the oil field workers of the first boom would go spend their paychecks and get their monthly...'bath'. The original settlement had a different name, but the workers said it was time to go to town and get their Aspermont. The name stuck.

I figured out after the old man passed away that the old ranch-hand had imparted a lot of 'wisdom' to me that wasn't always true, but always made for a good story.

Going to depend on how far North of town.

The area has great potential. Like anywhere in Texas if not properly managed it can be poor hunting as well.

If the terrain drains to the river basin you could have Mule deer and whitetail. Plenty of quail and hogs. The key to consistently harvesting good bucks is water and not over hunting with too many guns.

The river is too salty for consumption so you must have good water wells. No more than one gun per 700-1000 acres. If you can find these fundamentals it can be great hunting with big bucks.

I have hunted a place that is about 6 miles north of aspermont on 83 for the last 5 years. 1000 acres and has a wet creek.

4-5 years ago we rarely saw any deer. About 3 years ago, a doe with 2 fawns showed up and ended up staying around. The last 2 years we have seen numerous does/fawns and a couple good bucks. My buddy that owns the place shot a 16pt this year. That is only the second deer shot in 10 years. The other one was my sons first buck. Small 7pt with a drop tine.

We added another feeder this year and the deer and pigs found it within the first week.

We think the drought and the fire a few years ago had a major effect on deer populations. Like PP said, the water is very salty so once summer temps rise the deer will be looking for a fresh water source.

There are a ton of hogs and coyotes. We literally shoot a pig every time we hunt.

Quail has made a come back as well with the rains from last season.

Water will be the key in this area. If you have fresh water, the wildlife will come.

Looks like we are neighbors. My son and I just got on a place two years ago that is three miles due west of Peacock. The group has been leasing several sections from a couple of land owners for over 25 years. I love the country and feel lucky to have secured a place on the lease.
I took a nice 25 inch wide eight pointer this year on opening morning. Not a bit of regret, even being a one buck county. He was the first buck I had shot in 15 years, due to me being the "outfitter" for my 16 year old.

My uncle owns about 600 acres about 30 minutes west of Aspermont. We have hunted it since about 2008 and killed some very nice bucks. Deer numbers arent as high as other parts of the state but the quality and potential is definitely there. My cousins wife killed a 150 this year. There is 140-150 type deer killed every year on the place. With proper nutrition and management you could have a gold mine out there. Theres a short muley season as well but we've never seen any.
