'Hope you're on a large acreage place and he was in the middle. If not, I'm afraid he may be at a taxidermist.
Awesome deer, I have them do the same thing come Novemeber. Time to start Bow hunting!

My thoughts too, not many would pass him up..

That's one to lose sleep over!
I hope he returns. Would love to see what he looks like after another year.
And if I were you I would start bowhunting next year!

Probably right guys, that buck has it all, length in tines, length in points and some good spread. Would be curious as to what you all think his age is. Way - what county is this? For age, I think he's a 5-6 yo..

Re: Maybe next year - 01/23/16 11:59 PM
If that is Hill Country and date is Sept., I would call him 7.5 yrs old. Is this Llano, Mason or San Saba county?

Re: Maybe next year - 01/24/16 02:25 AM
Yeah that buck is way above and beyond anything we have ever seen out there. Had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I first got a pic of him. The rain worked wonders this year.

If I were you, I would look for his sheds. Just in case he doesn't show up next year. Heck of a buck for sure.

Going to be doing a lot of shed hunting this spring
I'd have slept in that stand most of the year

Re: Maybe next year - 01/24/16 05:26 PM
165ish. Looks to be a main frame 8 with forks and kickers. Beam length average doesn't come out but halfway on nose. Width great and height outstanding. I'd say 4.5 years old. Either way that is a heck of a Stephens county buck for sure.

Re: Maybe next year - 01/26/16 09:06 PM
Mother of God! Are you still feeding and running cams?
I have had the same issue on my lease last two years. We tried bow hunting quite a bit this year and the weather was just too warm as the deer came in right after dark or would leave right before legal in the am every time. never got to draw on a deer this year, and last year we didn't bow hunt near as much as we should have.
I would buy a bow and practice, practice, practice. If he made it through the season he will be a dandy next year given the amount of water and greenery we have had this winter. Even with a late summer drought, he will be mostly formed up and be ready for the corn feeders to give him some extra energy to get ready for rut next season!
Great buck!

Nice buck! He looks older and hopefully he's still running around out there. I always keep the cameras up till they drop their horns so I can get an idea of what we have. We usually have a deer or two disappear at the beginning of the season so we think he's dead and then, he reappears after the season. Sneaky
