ISO BIG 6 POINT - 01/06/16 04:18 PM

Anyone know where I can find a large 6pt whitetail. The bigger the better.

Re: ISO BIG 6 POINT - 01/06/16 08:27 PM

Buddy of mine killed this one a few years ago. It was a one buck county and he drew the short straw and had to burn his tag on it. It scored something like 108.

Shoot a big 8 or a 10 and knock a couple points off with a hatchet. Problem solved.

The biggest 6 point I have ever seen was killed in Dimmit County over 10 yrs ago. It was 24"+ inside and grossed 146. He was killed on a cull buck hunt.

Something about those big odd deer do it for me. We cull all crab claws, 6's, 7's, etc. I let one go this year because I am hoping he will be bigger next year....the hell with management rofl

Dude that's awesome. Those brow tines are insane, and he's not even that old yet. There's just something really impressive about a big 6

Re: ISO BIG 6 POINT - 01/07/16 04:59 AM

No help to the OP... just something to tickle his fancy. I shot this 6 point several years ago. He was a 6 at 3.5, 6 at 4.5, 7 at 5.5, and back to a 6 at 6.5. My wife wanted to shoot him as a 7 (his best year), but he busted up the first week of the season.

Slick sixes all need to be shot, or they'll take over the herd genetically

I shot a 6 back in the early 1990's that grossed 124". He had good mass and 24" beams. AND he was barely a 6, his brow tines were only 1.5" long so he would have been a 121" 4pt if he hadn't grown them! I'll take a pic sometime for you guys

Re: ISO BIG 6 POINT - 01/22/16 09:52 PM

Buddy of mine bought a 900 acre hunting place this summer near Brackettville. The focus this season was to get rid of as many cull bucks as we could. In November I shot a 6 with short tines that would never be much. On camera he had several with no brow tines and he definitely wanted those out. The last weekend of the south zone season I broke in the Nosler 6.5x284 and dropped one of those, a 6 with no dog catchers:

Please explain??? We kill them all anyway, but take over the genetics of the herd? We've got lots of bucks young and old with 8,9,10+++ points. How are the few sixes going to dominate those genetics?
