Second Rut?

I've heard that right around Christmas or so, whitetails go through a second, smaller rut... What do y'all know about that?

Unbred does cycle again and bucks get after them. Sometimes there is more intensity in this rut than the original because there are fewer unbred does and more competition for the bucks to land one of the does.

Every year it has been a pattern in south TX, the best time to hunt is peak rut Xmas-a couple days past New Years.

Alright cool, I as just scared I may had missed the rut.. I hadn't really had the chance to hunt because of playoff football, but im glad I have a little something to look forward to now..

depending on conditions post rut is better hunting than during the rut... not as much this year though
