Hog hunting....when this big boy stepped out. Score thoughts please?!

Was in the stand hog hunting, when this big 10 pt stepped out. What are your thoughts on score?? Sorry about the poor phone pic. This is a low fence non protein feed ranch in Carrizo Springs. Could he score more than 145?

Great deer. 140+

Hard to tell from that photo, but he would get my attention.

It will depend on the G4s to get to 145, short dog catchers are hurting him.

Not good pics to judge by but he has the frame of a low to mid 140's deer.

Your going to loose a lot of points with such small brow tines. But I think you got one that will go over 140.

ok I have better pics of this big 10, what are your thoughts now on age and score? I have seen him last 2 hunts, he is impressive...but for some reason I wont pull the trigger, kinda like having a big boy around.

For those hunting south TX....would you ground check or let him grow/breed?

I would dump that deer in a second, unless you have many 160"+ bucks running around which you would prefer to take.

I'd dump him quickly. Look at his knees, width of chest. He ain't getting any younger

I'm going to say 145 or slightly bigger. I'm comparing him to the 8 I shot last year that went right at 135. You have 2 more points, slightly wider, and his g3's look slightly taller.

Looks like the original OP photo, is a different buck then the one posted later? The second looks 4+ inches wider to me? Heck of a buck and tough call. On my 15 acres, that buck would be toast the second he come on my place!

I am pretty sure its the same buck in all photo, that one photo in October was him in velvet. IDK, I have had my crosshairs on him, just didn't pull the trigger...really curious what he would look like after one more year......

That deer is 150+

Compared to the 8 by the other poster the ten has 5 to 7 more inches of g3 plus 2 additional pts and wider.

I hope I deer hunt long enough to learn that kind of restraint!

With the additional photos, I think he hits 150. His weakness is mass, but he has great tine length and really good beam length. I also think he is at least 5.5.

That guys got one of the biggest set of non-muledeer ears I've seen! Dang!

Looks that way to me as well. I was gonna say that he looks quite a bit bigger in the current pics.

That is one fine deer no matter what he scores! I think his Mass is the only thing that seperates him from 40 to 50's or a little more on his 4's, but I wouldn't let that stop me. What he may lack in score he will make up for in frame when he is hanging on the wall, he will look huge mounted!

I'm betting his response is going to be that the deer is fully mature if you like him shoot him.

While I and almost everybody else on here respects Mr. STX, it is silly to wait for a man to chime in on wether or not you want to shoot a deer. Plus, he is still mule deer hunting for the next couple days.

Thank yall all for your comments and opinions, I think I get more joy these days taking pics and posting them on here than I do killing the big ones.

grout-scout: I am not waiting for STX to tell me to shoot him or not, he just so happens to hunt around the same area as me and I'm interested in if he thinks this deer will grow to 155-160 next year or shall I hang him on the wall this year.

All comments aside, I will pull the trigger when ready. For now, just having a lil fun watching him, it gives me even more respect for the day I pull the trigger.

If there is any chance you will be disappointed if he doesn't score what you think he will score, then let him walk. Can't get bigger next year if he's dead.

This year was an AWESOME rainfall year. I wouldn't wager on him getting bigger next year.

Im with you though, it is cool to take pictures and watch them. You can learn as much/more from watching them than shooting them.

Well heck man, if you are close to STX's place just to over and bust up his deer! He was needing some help getting one of those bucks, he might be a happy man if he pulls up and sees you with a pic of it under his feeder.

I don't see him making 150" but have been wrong before. Good frame but the 1's and 4's combined with the mass will keep him below it IMO. Airspace looks impressive, but doesn't add much to the score.
