Whispering

I still get a laugh out of the "Outdoor Video Hunters" who continue to whisper to their cameramen or guide after the shot is taken and the game is on the ground. Even if it is a miss (this hardly ever happens-on camera) the whispering continues...
What I would like to see is a "real life" WHOPEE! And much fewer commercials...

We don't get very loud on the lease even after a shot. We've even sat and waited up to an hour for the rest of the deer to clear the field or area before going to pick one up that's down. I wouldn't say we whisper after the shot, but definitely don't get loud.

Not too many of us folk Day Lease on here...

No yelling or whoopin etc. here be it hit or miss.

It depends for us... If it's a kiddo or someone getting there first deer then some celebration is in order with "whooping" and whatever else. If it's one of us, it's usually just a fist bump and a quiet "get ya some" or something like that

I shot the biggest buck of my life yesterday, and all I did was smile. There were still some deer around so I didn't want to start acting a fool and run them off. Nothing wrong with getting excited though if that's what you do.

I never yelled after killing something but have never killed a "big" buck either.

Funny story, I was on a lease in east Texas and my wife wanted to hunt by herself one afternoon so I dropped her off and got her settled in one of my treestands. I got back on the three wheeler and headed on down the trail into the creek bottom about 300 yards away, just as I got settled, BOOM! And the whooping and hollering began. At first I thought she had fell out and shot herself, I had made 10 or more running steps toward her before I realized she was celebrating. Scared the crap outa me. Even my buddy further down the same creek bottom could hear her. Turns out we fooled a spike into thinking we had left when I cranked up and drove away, she said she could still hear the 3 wheeler running as I went down the trail when the little spike popped out. He was bleeding profusely right under my feeder when I got back up the trail and the tree she was in was shaking like it had one of those pecan tree shakers hooked to it. Shooting a semi auto 30-06 and she wanted the casing, took us an hour to find the dang thing but we did. She still has the casing and the antlers, that was 14 years ago.

On our place, I rarely whisper at all, even before the shot. I laugh at the turkeys running to the feeder, bang my rifle into the roof, cuss myself for doing that, then fire off a few rounds and hope I hit something. The deer don't seem to mind. They wait til I pick up all the dead animals, then go back to eating.

The main reason of not going crazy after a shot, is sometimes, if the deer is not hit well, they do not go down right away. They may go bed down close, and if that happends and you start going crazy, they will not stay and go further. Also the recation of other wildlife as well.

FWIW, I do not cripple deer, I do not "wait" to see what happens next. My deer are gutted, skinned and in a cooler less than an hour after they hit the ground.
Last year, I killed a 10 point in the morning and an 8 point in the evening OUT OF THE SAME BLIND.
I do not wear camouflage clothing to sit in a blind, I pay attention to the position of the sun and the prevailing wind when setting up a blind.
My sons and grandsons were trained to hunt the same way. If we have a "rookie" on the ranch, we sit with him/her and help them celebrate a good shot.
My apologies to those who find it necessary to whisper and "fist bump".

I agree with you on the commercials. I watch hunting shows via DVR mainly and I can mow through 4-5 30min shows in an hour just by FF through the ads.

I must have missed something. People were just giving their opinion. No one disparaged the OP.
