Trail cam placement hmmmmm sneaky

If you guys will, post pics of your most creative trail cam placements or go into detail on how you put your cams up. I am about to drive 7 hours to put a cam up on a small piece of property and want to be sneaky with it, as to make sure it doesn't get stolen.....

Place it up high enough you can not reach it off the ground easily in a good tree with lots of canopy cover. Cut out enough foliage around the camera lens/sensor cone area to keep it from triggering the camera with wind. I angle it downward to the spot I want to take the pics in. Most people don't look up when walking around.

Put it in a 1" thick, hardened steel box, with bullet proof windows. Weld logging chain to the back of the box. Use six inch lag bolts to screw into a 24" diameter minimum tree and use a 1/2" shank hardened steel lock to secure the chain around the tree. Finally, encase the whole thing in 6" of concrete. And then, maybe it'll be safe.
Please forgive my cynicism. I just lost my fifth camera to theft. I am OBVIOUSLY doing it WRONG!!

If you are really worried about theft, put it in the least conspicuous place you can think of and use every available security device at your disposal. Even so, all they will do is keep an honest man honest. Three of the five I have lost were in steel boxes either bolted or chained to trees.

Dang that sucks..... I know absolutely nothing about this property and didn't know if anyone ever hangs them like 8-10 ft off the ground.....

I was thinking of putting mine in a box for the cellular type, then getting a fake antenna to stick out of the box. A little sticker that says 'Smile, your photo was just texted to the owner' would finish the job.

Best way, buy two cameras. put one in plan sight and one hidden up high as "stxranchman suggested. They will take the one out in the open and most likely not look for another one. And if no one steals it then you have photos from two different angles of your feeder. I also know a man who "hides" a camera near the gate so that he can get the car and licence plate in the photo of anyone who drives into his property.

I always take a climbing stick and hang it as high as I possibly can so that it cant be reached from the ground and is well above eye level which might help it not to get notice.

As stated above grab a stick and put behind the camera and angle id down so that its taking pictures of what ever is on the trail/feeder etc.

I always place mine off of the trail by 8-12 feet. I pass the first few trees and find one a little further back. This would also help prevent it from being noticed because the person would be looking for it very close to the trail.

I've only lost 1 camera to theft on public land and I run 4-5 at all times from July-December. I simply lost one because I guess I hid it too well, oops... should have marked it on GPS. And Ive lost one to TPWD doing some trail clearing with a tree shredder. It got mowed over, all I ever found was about 2' of the strap which was frayed.

My best advise if you are driving 7 hours get a covert camera, a master python lock and a small master lock and do the above so that you can get pictures at all times w/o wondering what is there. Or put up at least 2 cameras to get an idea of deer movement.
