I hope he makes it that long. Around our area there are a bunch of poachers.

How do you know there are poachers? Just curious.

Re: Ugly but unique - 09/29/15 02:18 PM

We lease land out there, and we have leased land from land owners because there are poachers on their property. We call the land owner ask if they have permission and they let us lease it to get them off. Also we have talked to the game wardens good many people busted.

Looks like the protein is working great rofl

Re: Ugly but unique - 09/29/15 02:28 PM

We can't get anything to eat the protein really so that's why we have foodplots all over that property.

Re: Ugly but unique - 09/29/15 02:29 PM

We have been trying to do protein for a few years very few deer ever came to eat it.

Another reason youngsters should not do crack peep

At least he appears to be very young, could be a stud, or a new herd nightmare!

This. That deer is/was ill. I wouldn't shoot him, give him a chance to recover.

Not really. He's a young deer and you can see his spine in the second picture and hips in the first-he got injured or sick during the growing season. If he lives I bet he's back to normal next year.

I'm happy to go on record that I don't think anything is really wrong with him. Sure, he's a little thin but I see deer like that every year that look perfectly healthy other times of the year. He's just a funky little buck.
