Buck in 3rd & 4th picture is AR legal but not by a ton. Probably 4-4.5yo

Buck looks mature to me and does not look like he is AR legal to me.

Mature and real close

mature and IMO 13-14" inside spread, I'd taking a good long look at him before drawing a bead on this buck, though.

Thanks guys I figured he was mature. Just so close on spread. Maybe he will open up some once he's hard horned.

The more I look at the night time pic of this buck the more I think he's AR legal. He's almost facing directly away and even with his ear tucked back I think you can tell he's outside of his ears by at least an inch or more. Am I seeing something wrong?

Just remember that they always look bigger going away. up

True, I was also looking at the 3rd pic from above and was comparing it to my wife's hanging on the wall. He was 13 1/8". Based on where the brow tines are on this deers beams I think this deer is easily 14", possibly more. But like I said I may be just tripping.

Would be too close for me but he might just make it

agree, it would be too close to call based on what I see in those pictures

I'm thinking he's closet to 14" wide. I'd take him if I wanted to.

Think I would pass on him. I see only 4yo at best, but never know till seeing him on the hoof.

He's legal. If you like him, take him. He is at least 14 inches

Re: Age and spread on another RRC deer - 09/07/15 09:48 AM

Looks like a 100 inch deer that would be a good buck to hunt if you like him. Ive hunted bucks like this one. When they make it to three and really aren't putting on the tine length, it wouldn't hurt to try and hunt him. Unless he is your best buck and you can hold off another season, but he may only gain another 10 to 15 inches. Ive noticed that a typical framed buck that really hasn't sprouted out like he may seem that he should, most of the time stays the same in looks and antler mass, but you are sometimes surprised. If he was a three year old ten point, I would say let him go for sure. up

That is a perfect specimen of a hock picture. Notice how white his hocks are on his back legs. Those crazy suckers don't start peeing on themselves for the rut till October and then those hocks will be almost jet black by the end of that month. up

Then why are these 2 buck's hocks stained in August?

Re: Age and spread on another RRC deer - 09/08/15 10:44 PM

Maybe getting pumped up a little early, but they really aren't that stained.
