Axis crossing fences - funny behavior. - 08/17/15 04:45 AM
One thing I have seen several times this summer while watching axis is kinda humorous, but interesting. Not once, but SEVERAL times, I have seen bucks helping axis through the fence by doing this:
One of the larger bucks comes up to a fence with a loose lower strand. He sticks one side of his antlers under the fence and raises his head creating a gap for the other deer/does/fawns to cross. Holds the fence for them, and when they are through - lowers his head and sticks the other side of the antlers through, gets on his knees, and shimmies UNDER the fence.
The other larger bucks hop.
Can't be sure, but I think it is the same buck that keeps doing this.
