Natchez has the Primos refurbs pretty cheap. The full size TruthCam 35 is an awesome camera for the money but the D batteries kind of suck. I've got one that's been on the same tree 24/7/365 for going on seven years now. I generally average 1200-2000+ pics a week during deer season and only change batteries twice a year. Night pics aren't as good as my Browning Strike Force, but I have absolutely NO complaints with any of the three that I'm running.

I also picked up two of the original Truth Cam 35s refurbished from Natchez for $49 a couple of years ago and they have been flawless. Yes, the D cells suck, but that set-up would be outstanding with a solar panel.

Cabelas has a new model (cableas exclusive) Bushnell Aggressor listed at 149 with another 30 dollar mail in rebate, or at least they did as of the weekend.

There were a bunch in the fort worth store when I was there friday, but they appear to be backordered online. Looks to be a good camera.

I just bought an M80 Moultrie for $99 the store claimed was a $170 value to replace one that went down. Doubt the value, but if it last a year, I will be happy. Gander Mtn. btw.

I went through 6 or 8 of the Primos refurbs, all are in a pile in the corner. None lasted over a year for me.
I use 6 of the Browning Strike force now with no issues. Trailcampro, $129, with SD card and two year warranty.

Primos were my cameras of choice but I learned the hard way that there is little if any correlation between the quality of one year's camera to the next year's. Of the five TC cameras I bought last year for replacements, not a single one is still in the field. No more Primos for me until they can get their quality control problems solved. Things have gone to pot with Primos after they were sold to Bushnell.

Avoid the Browning Strike Force HD (BTC-5HD) until they get their night shot problems solved.

Moultrie, Bushnell, Browning in that order for cheap/value cams. Got a smoking deal on 6 bushnells on a Father's Day sale at Academy. Be watching for the flyers for the next few weeks, there'll be something In There I bet

Saw somewhere that Wally World was running a sale on the Moultrie D-500 for $50.

I love my full size truth cams and would love to get more. The D-cells last a long time too. I can't find them for sale anyplace though. I got a primos ultra 35 and it's pretty hit or miss if it works. the dip switches suck.

I prefer my cameras to last more than a year, even for $100. Academy used to put them on sale at 30% off after season, but hasn't the last couple of years

Last month Cabela's had the 8 mb Bushnell cameras with a free 8gb card (from the store and didn't have to mail in squat) for $99. I bought 1 and had several friends buy them. Great cameras with excellent trigger speed and battery life.

I am not a fan of the old primos truth cams. Didn't have good luck with the two I bought (had a 35 and 46). Could have just got a bad one or someone may have dropped them.

Lots of good deals out there right now with the new styles now hitting and everyone marking down the old ones. Cabelas has the 14mp Bushnell on sale for $60 off with sales and rebate. Depending on what store you go to, lots of good deals in the Bargain Cave.
A little birdie told me that there may be some awesome deals in the bargain cave on August 15th. Make sure to check out the Fall Get Outdoor Days flyer when it comes out. You can always find your store on the website and look at ad's that pertain to it, for example, you can view the Archery Classic Event right now.

I agree, I has a Truth Cam that I bought before season started, that quite taking night pics(flash). I returned and it was deemed "fixed, but didn't get it out till the nest season, when it wouldn't take night pics again.

As far as the Strike Force, I purchased one in February of this year and have 0 complaints, unless being too sensitive is a problem. It takes around 1600 pics a month- 3 pics a time and still had 75% battery left last month. Night pics are great

Academy still has the Moultrie Trace Premisis on sale for 20. No moon phase or temperature but takes good pics and 20 bucks is hard to beat.

Re: Any deals on game cams right now? - 08/06/15 04:57 AM

I currently have five of the original Truth Cam 35's, a Spypoint, a Browning StrikeForce, and a Scoutguard. The oldest TC35 has been in the field for going on 6 or 7 yrs. now, and the other TC35's are all factory refurbs. The only problem I've ever had is that they will start taking random and/or black pics when the batteries get low. The Scoutguard isn't bad, the SpyPoint sucks, and the Browning is great. Bettery life on the 35's leaves the rest in the dirt if you run good batteries.
