Anyone know a good agent to call for this?

Thanks!

I use Farm Bureau for my ranch liability. It covers my hunting enterprise but because of the size of receipts, I had to increase the coverage. If you carry any type of liability on your farm/ranch (and you need to), check with your agent.

We have insurance and an umbrella policy through USAA but it does not include hunting.

How much does this usually cost? Is it based on the # of hunters or land size? Also, does it cover the on site lodging or do you have to get a separate policy for that?

I would ask the LO who his agent is, if it's possible, your best bet is to get your lease insurance from the same place. If the same company has both they're on the hook either way. If they're with the same Agent but separate companies then the agents E&O is on the line if there are any gaps.

I am the landowner, looking to get insurance. Should I also have each individual hunter get their own policy?

I get mine through the Farm bureau. Seems like it is around $250 a year.

I have the same thing but just assumed any accident on my land would be covered whether it was hunting related or not. Does your umbrella have a hunting exclusion? Guess I need to pull my policy and look at it.

We actually called USAA and they said if they found out any commercial hunting was taking place they would drop our coverage. We are calling Farm Bureau and switching. USAA does not cover anything commercial. Thanks for your help!

If your Farm Policy covers commercial hunting you should be good. Individuals should be fine directly leasing. It's when you get into non family groups or clubs they may need their own policy. A lot will depend on how the lease is drawn up, you should always be covered. It's the lessees that may not be. A conversation with your agent can help you understand what your policies cover, what most personal policies cover, and what a lessees policy would cover. Your attorney can tell you if you should require a lessees policy.

QDMA partners with an insurance carrier that writes hunting lease liability insurance. It's based on land size and fairly inexpensive.

To clarify, my Farm Bureau Ranch Liability covers me when I lease out the hunting/fishing but it has a limit on how big an operation they will cover on a basic ranch policy. The limit is based on hunting receipts. Don't remember the numbers but I had to get added coverage. Cost was minimal. The only question that they asked that got my attention was if I furnished blinds for the hunters. I can see how that would be a liability flag and I have nothing to do with their blinds for that very reason.

One thing that my agent required was a list of the hunters and a liability release from each. The NRA has a recommended Liability Release form on their web page. I copied it, got the signatures, gave a copy to my agent and all was good. One of my guys wanted to change this and that on the form. I told him that all I knew about it was that the NRA said it was what we both needed. He signed.

I have "American Hunting Lease [censored]." for my hunting insurance. This ins. seems to cover what I need. Check it out.
1-866-782-6330 ...I am a hunter not affiliated with this company other than I needed insurance also and this company satisfied my land owner.

The post had "censored" after the company I mentioned..why? Just trying to help a fellow hunter.

Maybe would have been better if you spelled it out instead of using the abbreviation! roflmao

Try Outdoor Insurance Group, reasonable rates and should be exactly what you are looking for.
